Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is taking the WNBA by storm. Reese recently extended her streak of consecutive double-doubles to a record-breaking seven games, solidifying her place as a frontrunner for Rookie of the Year.
In her latest outing against the Dallas Wings, Reese put on a well-rounded performance, racking up 16 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. More importantly, this game marked the seventh consecutive contest where she notched double-digit figures in both points and rebounds. This achievement puts her in the WNBA record books for most consecutive double-doubles by a rookie.
Looking at her stats for the entire month of June, Reese continues to impress. She’s averaging 13.4 points, second only among rookies, and leads the entire league in rebounds at 12.8 per game. Her contributions extend beyond scoring and rebounding as well, with averages of 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals, which tie her for third in the WNBA. Notably, Reese is the only rookie this season to rank in the top three in two key statistical categories.
Adding another layer to her impressive performance, Reese is the lone rookie averaging over 15 minutes per game to boast a positive plus/minus rating. At +1.9 points per game, her presence on the court consistently translates to a net positive impact for the Sky.
There’s no doubt that Angel Reese is making a significant impact in her debut season. Her scoring prowess, rebounding dominance, and well-rounded skillset have positioned her as a rising star in the WNBA. With the season still ongoing, it will be exciting to see if Reese can maintain her record-breaking form and potentially lead the Chicago Sky to a championship run.
