Cousins! Carlee Russell had folks ‘shooketh’ following her fabricated kidnapping story shared across social media over the summer. As many online users have voiced their disappointment following her long list of false claims, Carlee’s ex-boyfriend says he is still confused by her overall motive.
While appearing on the 205 Boyz podcast, Thomae Latrell Simmons spoke with host Marcus Goody about the days leading up to Carlee’s disappearance. He explained that the couple was in a good place and had recently traveled to New York City from Alabama.
“We was having fun. We was taking tours of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge. We was good.”
Thomar was asked if there were any hints at something being wrong between them or Carlee in general that may have led her to pull the abduction hoax. He responded in saying that they had a small argument prior to her disappearance.
“But it wasn’t nothing to kidnap yourself over,” he continued. “What made you do that?”
He went on to confirm that he has had no contact with Carlee since her disappearance and that he doesn’t plan to in the future.
Thomar says that he feels that Carlee could’ve told him the truth before the news conference where her lawyer revealed that she wasn’t kidnapped.
“If you really want to tell me the truth, you could’ve told me,” he said. “You could’ve told me before all this happened, before the police conference came out. You had time to tell me.”
As we previously reported back in July, the Hoover Police Department conducted a news conference where Carlee’s attorney Emery Anthony provided a detailed statement on her behalf.
“There was no kidnapping on Thursday, July 13, 2023,” read the statement. “My client did not see a baby on the side of the road. My client did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person. My client did not have any help in this incident — this was a single act done by herself.”
Thomar says that following the news conference where he learned the truth at the same time as everyone else, he felt a whirlwind of emotions.
“I was mad, I was sad. I was in all type of emotions,” he said.
In a sinc-deleted Instagram post, he wrote :“Carlee’s actions created hurt, confusion, and dishonesty.”
“I was made aware of the false narrative after coming to the defense of my ex Carlee Russell. Myself and my family’s nature was to react in love, and genuine concern. We are disgusted from the outcome of this entire situation. I strongly feel exactly like you all, blindsided with Carlee’s actions.”
Thomar said later in the interview that despite being recognized in his hometown where ever he goes due to the unfortunate incident, he is trying to get back to his normal life.
