Every Person Drake Has Dissed in His Music Over the Years

Photo: Carmen Mandato (Getty Images)

We’re officially here. All parties have thrown shots after Kendrick Lamar went at Drake and J. Cole on his explosive “Like That” verse. Cole has since bowed out. So now, the main event is here, and Drake has answered the call.

On Saturday, Drake’s alleged diss track towards Kendrick Lamar (and half the rap game), “Push Ups,” leaked on social media. While many thought that the track was created using A.I., it was seemingly confirmed by the Toronto rapper on social media when he posted a photo to Instagram of Uma Thurman in “Kill Bill,” wielding a sword and fighting a large group of attackers, representing how in the song he dissed Lamar and a good amount of others.

With that in mind, let’s look at every person, rapper, singer, and athlete “The Boy” has dissed over the years.

Nike faces backlash after Olympic uniform reveal

Last week, Nike gave the public a sneak peek of the Olympic uniforms expected to be worn this summer. Serving as a preview to the Olympics and showcase of Nike’s newest technology, the Nike Air event in Paris also reopened a discussion about the controversial choices for professional female athletes, specifically in track and field.

During the event, Nike displayed the men and women’s uniforms for a variety of sports. However, the track and field uniform caught most people’s attention as the women’s design features a high hip cut bodysuit. Meanwhile, the men’s uniform consisted of mid-thigh compression shorts and a tank top. In light of the reveal, social media users expressed their outrage about the design choices.

“What man designed the woman’s cut?” one user commented under Citius Mag’s Instagram post about the new uniforms, per the New York Times.

“I hope U.S.A.T.F. is paying for the bikini waxes,” another commenter added.

Amongst the social media users sharing their opinions, Olympic athletes like Queen Harrison Claye and Femita Ayanbeku chimed into the conversation. Just as Claye joked that the European Wax Center should be named a sponsor in the Olympic games because of this uniform design, Ayanbeku commented, “This is clearly a joke.”

“I’m sorry, but show me one WNBA or NWSL team who would enthusiastically support this kit. This is for Olympic Track and Field,” said champion runner Lauren Fleshman in an Instagram post. “Professional athletes should be able to compete without dedicating brain space to constant pube vigilance or the mental gymnastics of having every vulnerable piece of your body on display. Women’s kits should be in service to performance, mentally and physically. If this outfit was truly beneficial to physical performance, men would wear it.”

While the mannequins in the Nike Air event showed the bodysuit track uniform, stars like Sha’Carri Richardson modeled another variation of the women’s track uniform which featured compression shorts. According to Nike’s press release, athletes have the option to choose from “nearly 50 unique pieces across men’s and women’s track and field and a dozen competition styles fine-tuned for specific events” that match their personal style and comfort.

“Nike designed the Paris 2024 track and field kits to offer athletes a range of silhouettes tailored for various sport disciplines, body types and sizes, prioritizing performance and maximum breathability,” said John Hoke, Nike’s chief innovation officer, in a statement.

“Working directly with athletes throughout every stage of the design process, Nike designed garments to ensure fit across a range of body types and style preferences and infused real-time feedback throughout the entire product-development cycle.”

Justin Bieber And Jaden Smith Share Viral Moment At Coachella

Screenshot: Instagram

On Saturday, two celebrities shared a tender moment at Coachella that has now gone viral. Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith were happy to be reunited in a VIP area at the music festival.

In the video, Smith surprised Bieber with a hug from behind. Then the “Sorry” singer kissed Jaden’s cheek before having an energetic conversation with him and other friends.

Back in 2010, the pair collaborated on Bieber’s “Never Say Never,” which was also the theme song for Smith’s popular film “The Karate Kid.”

The famous friends were last publicly spotted together at Harry Hudson’s 30th birthday party in June of last year. They all attended Lana Del Rey’s Saturday headline set at Coachella, which featured a surprise appearance from Billie Eilish.

Eilish wasn’t the only celebrity to unexpectedly appear onstage. Smith’s father— the one and only Will Smith—popped up to perform “Men in Black” during J. Balvin’s set.

The hit song is from his 1997 movie of the same name and served as its theme song. Onstage, Will wore sunglasses and a black suit, which was the uniform of his character in “Men in Black” which also co-starred Tommy Lee Jones.

During the set, Will and Balvin rapped the track together. Balvin’s dancers wore alien getup and a huge alien head prop was onstage to emphasize the intergalactic effect.

Even more dramatically, Balvin was hauled off by two people in black suits at the end of the performance. Will then held up the device used in the film to erase the memories of people who witness alien behavior.

Other celebrities who made surprise appearances include ASAP Rocky, Rihanna, Shakira, Paris Hilton and Kesha. When Kesha performed her biggest hit at the festival, “Tik Tok,” she modified the lyrics to say “f**k P. Diddy” alongside Reneé Rapp.

Maryland lawmaker ‘surprised’ by FBI probe into collapsed Baltimore bridge

U.S. Rep. Glenn Ivey, D-Md., told theGrio that he is “surprised” that the FBI has launched a criminal investigation into the ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore last month, claiming the lives of six people.

“I certainly expected personal injury lawyers to be retained and brought into this by the individual families who lost family members,” said Ivey. “A judge must have concluded that the agency had probable cause that criminal acts may have been committed, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to result in criminal charges.”

The Washington Post first reported the FBI investigation, in which agency authorities went aboard the Dali cargo ship on Monday to determine what the circumstances were that led to the deadly incident and whether the Dali’s operators complied with federal laws.

This investigation comes as the city of Baltimore aims to hold the Dali’s owner and staff legally responsible for the financial loss sustained by the accident.

On Monday, Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott announced that the city would partner with two law firms to “mitigate” the harm caused to city residents.

In a statement obtained by theGrio, Scott said, “…with the ship’s owner filing a petition to limit its liability mere days after the incident, we need to act equally as quickly to protect the City’s interests.”

Adam Levitt, co-founder of DiCello Levitt and one of the attorneys working with the city, said in a statement obtained by theGrio that this is “one of the largest inner-city maritime disasters in U.S. history.”

Levitt added that his law firm “will bring significant economic and environmental loss claims on behalf of the City of Baltimore” against Dali’s owner and staff.

Both the FBI investigation and the city’s lawsuit against Dali operatives come nearly three weeks after the Dali crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge at 1:30 a.m. on March 26, killing six construction workers. The cargo ship was on its way to Sri Lanka when it lost power and rammed into one of the bridge’s support beams, causing the bridge to plummet into the Patapsco River.

Following the tragedy, President Joe Biden announced that the Biden-Harris administration would allocate $60 million to fund the reconstruction of the bridge. However, some House Republicans have refused to support a bill providing additional funding.

U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., a senior member of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, told theGrio that Congress needs to “provide emergency assistance to Baltimore.”

“We’re too busy playing politics [however] the people of Baltimore deserve our assistance,” said Johnson.

In a previous interview with theGrio, Maryland Governor Wes Moore said that funding the reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge “is not political” but rather a “patriotic responsibility.”

On Thursday, Maryland lawmakers introduced the Baltimore BRIDGE Relief Act to release funding to rebuild the collapsed bridge.

Ivey told theGrio that despite some Republicans’ opposition to passing legislation to fund the bridge’s rebuilding, he hopes the bill will receive bipartisan support.

In the meantime, the congressman applauded the Biden-Harris administration for “making good on its promises to provide funds” to reconstruct the bridge.

Viral Video Shows Chicago Police Killing Another Black Driver

The Chicago Police Department, once again, finds itself at the center of a controversial police-involved shooting: A plainclothes unit is seen on video gunning down 26-year-old Black motorist Dexter Reed Jr. in a hail of 96 bullets in 41 seconds.

A recommendation from the city’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability, or COPA, urged Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling to relieve the officers of their police powers during an investigation.

CPD Superintendent Snelling speaks on deadly shooting of Dexter Reed for 1st time since video releas

COPA’s initial probe suggests that Reed fired first, wounding an officer in the forearm with a single shot during the March 21 traffic stop. However, COPA questions why the cops, who have a history of alleged excess force, stopped Reed in the first place.

Snelling told reporters at a news conference on Friday (April 12) that he doesn’t plan to strip the officers of their police powers, for now, while they remain on administrative duties, CBS News reported. He urged Chicagoans to suspend judgment until the investigation is completed.

CPD is under a federal court-approved consent decree that requires officials to reform training, policies and practices. The department has been under federal oversight since 2019, after the police fatal shooting of Black teenager Laquan McDonald.

According to COPA, the officers pulled over Reed for allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. They surrounded his SUV and gave him verbal commands. When Reed failed to comply, the officers pointed their guns at him.

Video footage appears to show Reed firing first, the report states. The officers responded with a barrage of bullets and continued firing when Reed fell to the ground.

Investigators recovered a gun on the front passenger seat of Reed’s vehicle.

In a letter to Snelling, COPA’s chief administrator, Andrea Kersten, questioned the justification for the traffic stop, according to The New York Times. It turns out that Reed had dark tints on the windows, making it difficult to determine that he wasn’t buckled up.

She also questions why three of the four officers reloaded their weapons, and why one of them fired three shots at Reed when he collapsed to the ground.

The five officers have been investigated a combined 41 times since 2019, including a traffic stop of a different driver for an alleged seatbelt violation a few weeks before the Reed shooting.

A lawyer representing Reed’s family, Andrew M. Stroth, wants to see the officers criminally indicted and CPD disband the plainclothes unit because it has a track record of using excessive force in communities of color.

Chicago has promised to reform its police department after a scathing 2017 federal investigation found an extensive pattern of excessive force and racial bias.

Could Trump Hush Money Case Be The Trial Of The Century?

One of worst presidents in this nation’s history is making history again: Trump is now the first former leader to undergo a criminal trial. On Monday, the jury selection for his highly anticipated hush money trial began. He is currently facing four criminal indictments as well as a civil lawsuit.

Could this be the trial of the century? The Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, is one of the case’s most prominent figures. Bragg has charged Mr. Trump with 34 felonies, accusing him of falsifying documents to hide a sex scandal involving porn star Stormy Daniels. Due to the nature of the case, salacious details of Trump’s personal life will be revealed.

In addition, the more of trial’s biggest players consist of: former publisher of The National Enquirer David Pecker, former editor of The National Enquirer Dylan Howard, former Playboy model Karen McDougal (who alleged she had an affair with Trump), Daniels’ attorney Keith Davidson and former Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks who is believed to have information about the hush money payment.

According to Judge Juan M. Merchan, one of the biggest challenges will be finding jury members who can be impartial during the proceedings. “The ultimate issue is whether the prospective jurors can assure us that they will set aside any personal feelings or biases and render a decision that is based on the evidence and the law,” Merchan stated in a filing from April 8.

Of course, Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts of falsifying records to keep details from his sexual escapades from coming out during his 2016 election campaign. This trial in particular focuses on $130,000 in payments that Trump’s company made to his former lawyer Michael Cohen.

Prosecutors believe the money that was given to Cohen was falsely identified as legal fees to cover up what it was really for. However, Trump’s attorneys insist that the cash was indeed for legal fees—not part of some elaborate cover-up.

If Trump is found guilty, he could receive up to four years in prison. There is also the possibility that he receives a no-jail time sentence as well. Trump’s legal team tried their best to get the hush money case dismissed as well as delay it, with several last-minute appeals court hearing occurring last week.

Trump’s legacy includes mishandling Covid, being impeached twice, insisting that the 2020 election was stolen, inciting the January 6 attack on the Capitol and being the first former president to undergo a criminal trial. Somehow, he remains the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination—which shouldn’t even be a reality for the disgraced mogul.
