In what might be the most unexpected “beef” to come from the 2025 Grammys, Kanye West and Don Lemon are at each other’s necks on social media. And the winner wasn’t a famous rapper.
Let us explain. Perhaps the biggest story of the ceremony was the stunt Kanye West pulled on the red carpet by bringing his wife, Bianca Censori, virtually and completely nude save for a sheer dress. Lemon attempted to interview West as he and Censori entered into the event and was apparently rebuffed. “Give me a second I’m focused,” West says to Lemon as he walks past.
Following Censori’s, ahem, reveal, several news outlets reported that the Grammys kicked West and Censori out, including Lemon, who reported from the ceremony that West was not invited and might’ve been escorted out. “I’m hearing that Kanye wanted to do the red carpet, and he wasn’t invited. That’s what I’m hearing from folks here at the Grammys,” Lemon said. He also made another video correcting what he said earlier: “Kanye was indeed invited and he was not kicked out.”
That didn’t matter to Ye, who attacked Lemon in a now-deleted Instagram post on Monday that read, “This is the goofball that started the rumor that me and my wife got kicked out the Grammies 3 decades of innovating music and they always KOONS like this.”
Did he say Koon? Well, Lemon caught wind of Ye’s harsh social media post and gave the perfect response in a live video. “First of all Kanye. Ye, whatever your name is. I did not start a rumor about you being kicked out of the Grammys I actually corrected it.”
He continued, “I saw someone on your team who asked me to correct it because it had been reported everywhere. So first of all, get your s**t straight. And you of all people calling me a ‘koon.’ Negro that ‘Make America Great Again’ hat must be too tight on your head.”
In a live video on Tik Tok, Lemon got real, real. “He called me Koon,’’ he said as if it was hard to believe. “You can talk to people anyway you want…but don’t come for me unless I send for you,’’ Lemon said, adding. “Now check that. Don’t even try it.”
He later called the rapper a troll. “I responded to you in kind and I was much nicer to you than you were to me…. So this is a lesson for people who work in social media and own social media companies, have some content moderation. Do you really want people online calling people Koons? Is that ok?”
He later challenged Ye to come on his show and talk about it. “ If you are man enough or brave enough. ”

Whew, Ok Don Lemon, we See you. It seems that Ye has another rival in the form of Lemon. It’ll be interesting to see if they have interactions in the future, but we know Lemon can carry his own.
