Mother Posts Video Of Chuck E. Cheese Mascot Ignoring Black Child

Natyana Muhammad recently posted a video on Twitter of her two-year-old daughter at a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party. The mother says the popular mouse mascot gave attention to the white kids in attendance but ignored her daughter. Now Muhammad is considering filing a lawsuit according to NBC News.

“On July 30 at Chuck E Cheese in Wayne, NJ, my 2yo was racially discriminated against. As you can see, he gives all of the yt kids hi-5s & PURPOSELY ignored my black baby. When confronted, he ignored me as well. The manager, Angie Valasquez, made excuses for him..” Muhammad captioned the tweet. Muhammad told NBC News last week,  “I stopped recording. I actually tapped Chuck E. on his arm to let him know that Safa was standing right there, and he ignored me.”

Before the incident the 2-year-old had never seen Chuck E. Cheese in person. Therefore her mom recorded the moment to get her reaction. Muhammad says the family was in the part room because her daughter was a guest of someone having a birthday party. The mother says she the mascot didn’t go to their table until a manager pushed  them towards it.

The location’s manager told Muhammad the mascot didn’t see her daughter and insisted on arranging a photo for Safa with the mascot.
