Legendary talk show host Wendy Williams was escorted to the hospital by ambulance officials today as an investigation into her guardianship continues!
Authorities were called to a New York City assisted living facility on Monday (March 10th) after Wendy is said to have tossed a handwritten note out the window from the five-story building pleading for help. According to the NY Post, the note read “Help! Wendy!!”
Sources state that the incident occurred around 11:15 AM. Wendy was later captured in circulated photos at the window waving her arms at news reporters as she spoke on the phone. Shortly after, Wendy was seen quietly walking out of the facility surrounded by cops.
NYPD officers are said to have responded to a 911 call about a woman in distress, reports ABC News. A sergeant says that Wendy appeared calm upon their arrival and was not restrained as she needed no help boarding the ambulance.
Per protocol, officers are treating the incident as a standard call for service as they confirm there is no ongoing NYPD investigation at this time.
Wendy is reportedly scheduled to make an appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Friday ( March 14th). This will be her very first daytime appearance since taking a leave of absence from “The Wendy Williams Show” nearly four years ago, reports the NY Post.
Former co-executive producer of ‘The Wendy Williams’ show, Suzzane Bass shared news of the upcoming appearance in a post to Instagram on Sunday ( March 9th). It hasn’t been confirmed at this time if the scheduled appearance will be prerecorded, in person or over the phone.
“Prepping a very special friend for her appearance @theviewabc to air this Friday. #freewendy,” reads Suzzane’s caption along with a video as she revealed that she spoke to Wendy for the first time in years.
Wendy has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She is currently in a legal battle to end the guardianship she’s been under since 2022.
While her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, previously insisted that Wendy is “—cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and incapacitated” due to her ongoing battle with dementia; Wendy has expressed that she is mentally stable and is being held like a prisoner.
