An Illinois woman is currently in police custody after her 69 year old landlord’s remains were discovered within in a freezer!
According to ABC News local officers had received an alert on Tuesday night for a well-being check following reports of a missing woman identified as Frances Walker. Surrounding residents said they hadn’t seen the landlord since early Monday and that they heard her screaming late that evening going into Tuesday morning . It has been said the gruesome screams came from her bedroom window.
Tenants shared that they had heard a confrontation of some sort followed by a breaking of a glass plate, furniture being moved around and a person pacing back and fourth. The very last thing they described was hearing the landlord trying to get the attacker to calm down.
Despite not seeing Frances the next day further suspicions were raised when tenants began to contact her but didn’t get a response. However they’ve revealed that they did receive text messages from Walker’s phone advising them to allow 36 year old Sandra Kolalou to care for her dogs and that if they move out to provide her with the keys to their apartments.
Local officials arrived on the scene around 7 p.m. on Tuesday where they discovered Sandra exiting the home and riding off in a tow truck that she had allegedly rented with Frances credit card. The Chicago Police Department have come forward in saying that they had attempted to speak with but Sandra but she refused and said she knew her rights.
Sandra is said to have left with the tow driver and that he had exchanged information with residents as they warned him she was dangerous. Tenants also shared that they saw the driver assist the suspect with a heavy plastic bag. Officials then utilized the evidence which led them to a lakefront garbage can near Foster Beach. They found remains but that it didn’t belong to a human.
Upon entering the home officials discovered blood in the bedroom, blood on knives and then they ultimately found Frances dismembered body parts in the freezer. Reports read that a severed head, dismembered arms and legs was inside. The victim’s torso has not yet been found. “They eventually discovered human remains in a freezer, at which point we backed out of the residence to secure a search warrant to go back in and retrieve all evidence properly,” said Chicago Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan.
Officer believe Frances was murdered in her bedroom and that they had found blood in her room as well as Sandra’s, on two chef’s knives on the first floor and additional places. Her phone was also discovered in Sandra’s bedroom.
“The tow truck driver explained that individual pulled a knife on him, so officers responded to that scene and placed that suspect into custody,” Deenihan said.
Deenihan says Sandra is in custody but that she isn’t cooperating with the investigation at this time and has refused to speak to them. She also has a previous criminal history for various misdemeanor offenses.
Sandra is currently being held in police custody with no bail. She’s also being charged with one count of concealing homicidal death and one misdemeanor count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Frances husband who is currently over seas said over the phone that she was the best human he’s ever known. She was know for providing shelter to women in need and playing the organ at one of the town’s church for over 20 years.
