Noir Nation, the FDA is raising major red flags after issuing a public advisory about shrimp that may have been exposed to dangerous radioactive contamination—and yes, it’s reportedly being sold at Walmart locations.

According to officials, the affected shrimp may have entered U.S. distribution through imported shipments that bypassed standard safety inspections.

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority. We have issued a sales restriction and removed this product from our impacted stores. We are working with the supplier to investigate,” Walmart said in an email to CBS News.

Walmart advises customers who purchased the shrimp to not eat it but instead toss it out. They’ve also instructed customers to contact the store where their purchase was made in order to receive a full refund.

Sources state that the frozen shrimp were imported from Indonesian company PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati, could be contaminated with a radioactive isotope called Cesium-137.

Though the FDA said that no products as have tested positive as of right now—-the issued warning about Walmart’s Great Value shrimp had detected Cesium-137 in a single shipment of frozen shrimp.

The FDA has not confirmed how much of the product is in circulation, but consumers are being urged to immediately avoid and dispose of any shrimp purchased from Walmart stores until further notice.

Health experts warn that consuming seafood exposed to radioactive particles could cause serious long-term health risks, including radiation poisoning and increased cancer risks. While the investigation is ongoing, the FDA says it’s working with Walmart and other federal agencies to pull the shrimp from store shelves as quickly as possible.

This development comes at a time when food safety has already been under scrutiny, with concerns about contamination in imported goods rising over the past year. The FDA emphasized that this warning is not to be taken lightly and urged anyone experiencing unusual symptoms after consuming shrimp to seek medical attention immediately.
