Based on Nabeshiki’s popular novels, “I Parry Everything!” joins the lineup of anime TV series bought by Sentai Filmworks as part of a multi-year arrangement with Mainichi Broadcasting System. The news follows the success of “My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered,” which captured audiences during the Winter 2024 season.

The story of “I Parry Everything!” takes place in the Kingdom of Clays, which is on the verge of chaos following an assassination attempt on Princess Lynneberg. As surrounding nations approach like vultures, plotting the kingdom’s ruin, a young adventurer named Noor rises with lofty ambitions. Despite possessing seemingly useless skills, such as the capacity to parry thousands of swords easily, Noor is eager to make his path as an explorer.

The series promises a thrilling story of dedication, courage, and self-discovery as Noor embarks on his adventure amid political intrigue and approaching conflict. Adapted from Nabeshiki’s Earth Star Novel series, “I Parry Everything!” provides a new spin on the old shonen genre, combining thrilling action with genuine character development.

On Wednesday (May 15), Florida A&M University President Larry Robinson apologized for a $237 million donation that has seemingly been deemed fraudulent.

Batterson Farms Corp. CEO Gregory Gerami was responsible for the major gift. The good news was shared on May 4 and immediately received national praise. However, some questioned the validity of such a large amount of money being given to an HBCU.

Robinson revealed that ultimately the gift transaction has been “ceased” just days after stating the historic donation was placed on hold. Now, the university’s trustees are investigating the questionable transaction.

Its aftermath has caused Shawnta Friday-Stroud, who worked as Florida A&M University’s vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the FAMU Foundation, to resign from her position as vice president.

Friday-Stroud, alongside six FAMU officials, decided to accept Gerami’s donation without informing other vital stakeholders of the school — including members of the FAMU Foundation Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees.

Robinson took accountability for the poor vetting of the donor who was recognized as the keynote speaker at a spring graduation ceremony. “I wanted it to be real and ignored the warning signs along the way,” Robinson explained to the board.

“The public announcement at commencement was premature at best, and I apologize to all who witnessed it and shared their joy and jubilation. It is my belief that with the guidance of this board, we will arrive at a process much more transparent when it comes to such large gifts in the future,” he further stated.

Robinson also apologized to Board of Trustees Chair Kristin Harper. However, Harper was unimpressed. “I should have never been put on the spot or used for a convenient photo or video op for a gift that I knew nothing about,” Harper pointedly said.

She added: “I fully support your decision to cease this transaction. I only wish the decision would have been made during the six months spent on developing the gift and before a public announcement would have been made that could tarnish the reputation of this university.”

The investigation will examine what happened during the process that led to accepting the donation and take a closer look at compliance with policies, processes and financial controls.

After over a century, Viola Fletcher is grateful to still be among the living.

On May 5, Fletcher, the oldest surviving witness of the Tulsa Race Massacre, celebrated her 110th birthday surrounded by her loved ones, People magazine reported.

“I’m real proud to be this age,” Fletcher told KJRH News. “It’s a blessing to live this long and easy to do. If I can do it, others can.”

Fletcher, born Viola Ford, was 7 years old on June 1, 1921, when a young Black man named Dick Rowland rode in an elevator with a white woman named Sarah Page. According to the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum, details of what followed vary, but Rowland was arrested and allegedly accused of sexual assault.

An “inflammatory” local news report sparked conflict between Black and white mobs around the courthouse, where the sheriff and his men were protecting Rowland. Soon after, white rioters looted and set fire to Tulsa’s Greenwood District, a center of Black prosperity, resulting in the bloodiest instance of racial violence in American history.

Preliminary reports indicated that the blaze destroyed 35 city blocks and left 36 people dead and 800 injured. Historians today estimate that as many as 300 people died.

In 1932, Viola Ford married Robert Fletcher. Together, they relocated to California to work in the shipyards during World War II, where she, per her oral history, worked as an assistant welder and placed steel slabs to form ships. After the war, the Fletchers settled in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to raise their three children.

“I have lived through the massacre every day,” Fletcher previously said, theGrio reported. “Our country may forget this history, but I cannot.”
