Judge orders Trump administration to halt indiscriminate immigration stops, arrests in California

[ad_1]

A federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to halt indiscriminate immigration stops and arrests in seven California counties, including Los Angeles.

Immigrant advocacy groups filed the lawsuit last week accusing President Donald Trump’s administration of systematically targeting brown-skinned people in Southern California during its ongoing immigration crackdown. The plaintiffs include three detained immigrants and two U.S. citizens, one of whom was held despite showing agents his identification.

The filing in U.S. District Court asked a judge to block the administration from using what they call unconstitutional tactics in immigration raids. Immigrant advocates accuse immigration officials of detaining someone based on their race, carrying out warrantless arrests, and denying detainees access to legal counsel at a holding facility in downtown LA.

Judge Maame E. Frimpong also issued a separate order barring the federal government from restricting attorney access at a Los Angeles immigration detention facility.

Frimpong issued the emergency orders, which are a temporary measure while the lawsuit proceeds, the day after a hearing during which advocacy groups argued that the government was violating the Fourth and Fifth amendments of the Constitution.

She wrote in the order there was a “mountain of evidence” presented in the case that the federal government was committing the violations they were being accused of.

The White House responded quickly to the ruling late Friday.

“No federal judge has the authority to dictate immigration policy — that authority rests with Congress and the President,” spokesperson Abigail Jackson said. “Enforcement operations require careful planning and execution; skills far beyond the purview (or) jurisdiction of any judge. We expect this gross overstep of judicial authority to be corrected on appeal.”

Despite Trump’s grip on DEI, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says red states have a duty to uplift racial justice

Communities on edge as administration steps up arrests

Immigrants and Latino communities across Southern California have been on edge for weeks since the Trump administration stepped up arrests at car washes, Home Depot parking lots, immigration courts and a range of businesses. Tens of thousands of people have participated in rallies in the region over the raids and the subsequent deployment of the National Guard and Marines.

The order also applies to Ventura County, where busloads of workers were detained Thursday while the court hearing was underway after federal agents descended on a cannabis farm, leading to clashes with protesters and multiple injuries.

According to the American Civil Liberties Union, the recent wave of immigration enforcement has been driven by an “arbitrary arrest quota” and based on “broad stereotypes based on race or ethnicity.”

When detaining the three day laborers who are plaintiffs in the lawsuit, all immigration agents knew about them is that they were Latino and were dressed in construction work clothes, the filing in the lawsuit said. It goes on to describe raids at swap meets and Home Depots where witnesses say federal agents grabbed anyone who “looked Hispanic.”

Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said in an email that “any claims that individuals have been ‘targeted’ by law enforcement because of their skin color are disgusting and categorically FALSE.”

McLaughlin said “enforcement operations are highly targeted, and officers do their due diligence” before making arrests.

After the ruling, she said “a district judge is undermining the will of the American people.”

ACLU attorney Mohammad Tajsar said Brian Gavidia, one of the U.S. citizens who was detained, was “physically assaulted … for no other reason than he was Latino and working at a tow yard in a predominantly Latin American neighborhood.”

Tajsar asked why immigration agents detained everyone at a car wash except two white workers, according to a declaration by a car wash worker, if race wasn’t involved.

Representing the government, attorney Sean Skedzielewski said there was no evidence that federal immigration agents considered race in their arrests, and that they only considered appearance as part of the “totality of the circumstances”, including prior surveillance and interactions with people in the field.

In some cases, they also operated off “targeted, individualized packages,” he said.

“The Department of Homeland Security has policy and training to ensure compliance with the Fourth Amendment,” Skedzielewski said.

Order opens facility to lawyer visits

Lawyers from Immigrant Defenders Law Center and other groups say they also have been denied access to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in downtown LA known as “B-18” on several occasions since June, according to court documents.

Lawyer Mark Rosenbaum said in one incident on June 7 attorneys “attempted to shout out basic rights” at a bus of people detained by immigration agents in downtown LA when the government drivers honked their horns to drown them out and chemical munitions akin to tear gas were deployed.

Skedzielewski said access was only restricted to “protect the employees and the detainees” during violent protests and it has since been restored.

Rosenbaum said lawyers were denied access even on days without any demonstrations nearby, and that the people detained are also not given sufficient access to phones or informed that lawyers were available to them.

He said the facility lacks adequate food and beds, which he called “coercive” to getting people to sign papers to agree to leave the country before consulting an attorney.

Friday’s order will prevent the government from solely using apparent race or ethnicity, speaking Spanish or English with an accent, presence at a location such as a tow yard or car wash, or someone’s occupation as the basis for reasonable suspicion to stop someone. It will also require officials to open B-18 to visitation by attorneys seven days a week and provide detainees access to confidential phone calls with attorneys.

Attorneys general for 18 Democratic states also filed briefs in support of the orders.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were already barred from making warrantless arrests in a large swath of eastern California after a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction in April.

Columbus Short Granted Temporary Restraining Order After Alleged Puppy And Domestic Incident! – NoirOnlineOrg

[ad_1]

PHOTO : Getty Images

Noir Nation, things have taken a serious turn in the world of actor and choreographer Columbus Short!

According to TMZ, the Stomp the Yard star was recently granted a temporary restraining order against his wife, Aida Abramyan, after claiming she became violent during a heated domestic dispute that allegedly involved their 10-week-old puppy and their children.

In court documents, Columbus alleges that Aida kicked and threw their puppy during an argument that took place in their home. When he attempted to intervene, he claims she physically attacked him—punching him in the face and busting his eye open, which reportedly drew blood. A neighbor, who overheard the altercation, told police she heard Aida “screaming very loudly as if she was being murdered.” Authorities were called to the scene, and upon noticing visible injuries on Columbus, Aida was arrested.

The restraining order, granted by a judge, requires Aida to stay at least 100 yards away from Columbus, their two children, and their pets. Columbus is also requesting that she be removed from their home but continue paying the rent during the separation.

Columbus went on to tell the court that this wasn’t an isolated incident. He claims Aida has displayed ongoing verbal and emotional abuse, and says past arguments have involved her throwing objects, including a trophy—and even using knives to threaten him. He also said that since bringing the puppy home on June 21st, tensions in their household have escalated significantly.

As of now, Aida Abramyan has not publicly commented on the situation or responded to the allegations made against her.

💬 Noir Nation, what are your thoughts?

Is Columbus doing what he needs to do to protect his family and pets—or is this another public unraveling with deeper issues at play? Let us know where you stand below. ⬇️

Classic Black Movies to Watch to Keep Your Black Card

[ad_1]

There are certain films that are more than just movies—they’re rites of passage in Black culture. Miss one too many and somebody (namely, us) will start side-eyeing you and your “Black card.”

We’re talking about the classics you and your best friends can quote like crazy, movies your uncle loves to re-enact at the cookout, and films your cousins had on bootleg when they definitely. From laugh-out-loud comedies to moving dramas, these projects shaped generations, sparked catchphrases, and gave us characters we still talk about like family. Whether it’s Craig getting fired on his day off or Prince Akeem getting his first taste of the American life, these moments live rent-free in the Black cultural cannon.

If you’ve somehow missed any of these titles, don’t worry…we’re not judging (out loud, that is). But consider this your official syllabus if you’re looking to keep that Black card laminated and in good standing.

“Friday”

Starring: Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, John Witherspoon

Why You Need to See It: This film is arguably one of the most quoted ones out there and is a fun reflection of a crazy day in the hood. It’s truly a no-brainer.

“Coming to America”

Starring: Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones

Why You Need to See It: You can’t put prime Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos and more in a film and not expect for it to be beloved.

“Boyz N the Hood”

Starring: Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr., Morris Chestnut

Why You Need to See It: For the folks who grew up in South Central, this movie is a North Star. For all of us who didn’t, it’s still one of those ones.

“The Color Purple”

Starring: Whoopi Goldberg, Margaret Avery, Danny Glover

Why You Need to See It: Because it’s a generational story of Black womanhood, survival, and sisterhood that still hits like a gospel chorus.

“Do the Right Thing”

Starring: Spike Lee, Giancarlo Esposito, Rosie Perez

Why You Need to See It: Because it’s a timeless snapshot of race, heat, and tension in America that still feels like today.

“Malcolm X”

Starring: Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Delroy Lindo

Why You Need to See It: Because Denzel didn’t just play Malcolm—he became him. The film is required viewing for Black pride and true cinematic talent.

“Love & Basketball”

Starring: Sanaa Lathan, Omar Epps, Regina Hall

Why You Need to See It: This film gave us that slow burn Black love story wrapped in sweat, sacrifice, and a (slightly) controversial ending.

“Love Jones”

Starring: Larenz Tate, Nia Long, Bill Bellamy

Why You Need to See It: “Love Jones” made poetry sexy and gave us an artsy, grown-folks love story before we knew we even needed it.

“The Wiz”

Starring: Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor

Why You Need to See It: This melanin-infused remix on a classic film is one for the books with iconic music, fashion, and unapologetic Black magic.

“Set It Off”

Starring: Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Vivica A. Fox

Why You Need to See It: Four Black women robbing banks for their freedom? Instant classic, no notes.

“House Party”

Starring: Christopher Reid, Christopher Martin, Tisha Campbell

Why You Need to See It: The dance battles? High-top fades? The one-liners? This movie was pure 90’s Black joy.

“In the Heat of the Night”

Starring: Sidney Poitier, Robb Steiger, Lee Grant

Why You Need to See It: They call him Mr. Tibbs for a reason!! This film and the slap heard around the world makes this a must-watch!!

“Juice”

Starring: Tupac Shakur, Khalil Cain, Omar Epps

Why You Need to See It: “Juice” showed the thin line between brotherhood and betrayal—and gave us Tupac at his coldest and most diabolical.

“The Five Heartbeats”

Starring: Robert Townsend, Leon, Michael Wright

Why You Need to See It: Two words: EDDIE KING.

“Black Panther”

Starring: Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Michael B. Jordan

Why You Need to See It: This film quite literally changed the landscape of Black cinema and how our films were perceived by the mainstream. The mandatory viewing number for this one is at least three times.

Angel Reese shuts down RGIII’s claim about her ‘inner circle’ and Caitlin Clark: ‘Nastyyyy work’

[ad_1]

Angel Reese and her mama aren’t sitting on the sidelines while rumors persist.

On Thursday, July 10, the 23-year-old WNBA star took to the platform X to publicly challenge Robert Griffin III’s claims that she “hates” rival WNBA player Caitlin Clark.

“Lying on this app when everybody know the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work,” she wrote.

While the Chicago Sky forward didn’t name him, the post on X arrives after RGIII went on a lengthy rant on the same platform, claiming to have inside knowledge of her beef with Clark. The posts began in defense of Reese in response to a racist meme depicting her “NBA 2K26: WNBA Edition” cover as a monkey.

“Alright. This has got to stop. There is no place for racism in this world,” Griffin wrote Thursday on X, which included an image of the offensive meme. “Whether you like a player or not. Angel Reese should never be called or depicted as a Monkey. I have been quiet on the Angel Reese front because she shared a video that aided in my wife, kids, family and friends receiving death threats, threats of physical harm to my family and friends and threats of sexual violence to my children on social media and beyond. That will never be okay with me.”

Ryan Clark blasts RGIII after his latest wild claim about Angel Reese

“I never attacked her or her family when I stated and backed up with clear basketball evidence that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s sports. Everybody won’t like each other,” he continued. “People in Angel’s inner circle called me and told me I was right and Angel Reese has grown to hate Caitlin Clark because of the media always asking her about Caitlin and being constantly compared to her. Some people made it about race, but I never did and never will. Instead of becoming the villain in anyone’s story, I decided to just not.”

Reese’s mom, Ange Webb Reesel, also chimed in to deny RGIII’s claims, further noting that the feud, which has been the narrative around them since college, is media/fan-made up.

“Man stop with the [lies],” Reese’s mom wrote Thursday on X in a reply to Griffin. “My daughter’s ‘circle’ is so small & tight so I’d be interested 2 know who called U Whomever U say ‘called’ U is not in her circle 2 speak on her feelings towards a media/fandom made up beef. Just stay on that side bc the doors are closed over here.”

Clark, the Fever’s No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and Reese, who was drafted seventh to the Sky that same year, have maintained that even after the media and fans have pitted them against one another, they have no beef.

Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Additional Charges In London Nightclub Assault Case! – NoirOnlineOrg

[ad_1]

 PHOTO : Getty Images

Nation, the legal drama continues.

🎤 R&B superstar Chris Brown is once again back in the headlines—this time pleading not guilty to two new criminal charges stemming from an alleged violent nightclub altercation in London’s Mayfair district.

👨🏽‍⚖️ The Grammy winner appeared in a U.K. courtroom on Thursday, July 11, where he denied charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) and possession of an offensive weapon—specifically a tequila bottle allegedly used in the attack.

👀 The Incident

According to prosecutors, the altercation took place in February 2023 at Tape nightclub, a popular celeb hotspot. Brown, alongside co-defendant Omololu “HoodyBaby” Akinlolu, allegedly assaulted music producer Abraham Diaw by smashing a bottle over his head, then continuing to kick and punch him while he lay unconscious.

📸 CCTV footage reportedly captures parts of the attack. Authorities say the bottle, which Brown allegedly wielded, is central to the weapon charge.

⚖️ What We Know

Brown was previously charged with grievous bodily harm, which he has also denied. The latest charges came after additional evidence was presented to the court. Despite facing serious legal heat, Brown remains free on bail—having reportedly posted a £5 million bond earlier this year. He is currently continuing his European tour, performing in multiple cities while awaiting trial.

🎭 Supporters Speak, Critics React

About 20 fans were present in court and reportedly cheered as Brown entered the courtroom. But online, reactions are mixed—many calling out the singer’s history of violent incidents, while others defend him as a target of unfair scrutiny.

The trial is currently scheduled for October 26, 2026, and is expected to last up to seven days.

Noir Nation, do y’all think this is another media setup—or is it time to truly hold celebrities accountable, no matter how many hits they’ve made?

Why Black America is Obsessed With Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham’s Messy Love Story

[ad_1]

Black folks have a profound affection for Fleetwood Mac, and it’s no mystery why. Their songs are a captivating blend of soulfulness and raw human messiness—profound yet delightfully petty. But the true grip on our hearts lies in the tumultuous love story that birthed the music. Fleetwood Mac members Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham made musical magic for years.

But the bandmates also had a complicated love story that often spilled over into their work and gave us some of the classic breakup songs fans know and love, like “Go Your Own Way” and “Dreams.”

The pair broke up in 1976, but they continued to make music for decades. And a powerful onstage moment between the two during a 1997 performance while singing a song Nicks wrote about their breakup has become a favorite of Fleetwood Mac fans young and old..white and Black. It’s something anyone who’s ever been in love can relate to, and we can’t help but think it’s one of the Blackity Blackest moments ever.

This is the story of the deliciously messy love story between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

We Sing Along

Don’t get it twisted, Black people love Fleetwood Mac. TikTok is loaded with posts by Black people performing their own renditions of the group’s biggest hits. This cover of the Fleetwood Mac hit “Dreams” posted on TikTok by Ariona Hall got nearly 63,000 likes on the app and over 5,000 comments from users who loved the soulful spin she put on the song.

“That’s a hard song to sing and sound good. you are the real deal,” wrote someone in the comments.

They Take Us to Church

Although most of the band’s biggest songs were released before they were born, Gen Zers are discovering Fleetwood Mac’s songs sound just as good today. Black TikTokers TerryAndKaniyia lost their minds while listening to the soulful track “The Chain.”

“Just listened to their album “Rumours”, we had no idea they had this much SOUL🔥 ,” they captioned a post.

Commenters agreed. “Fleetwood Mac is a spiritual experience,” wrote someone.

Friends as Teens

Screenshot: TikTok

Long before the sold-out shows and hit records, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham first met as teenagers when Nicks transferred to Buckingham’s high school in Northern California for her senior year. The pair’s mutual love of music led them to become friends.

First Came Fritz

After high school, Buckingham asked Nicks, who was studying at San Jose State College, to join a rock band he was in called Fritz. The group performed around the Bay Area before eventually landing bigger gigs opening for larger acts like Janis Joplin. Nicks left school to pursue her music career full-time.

Then Came Love

Fritz was unable to land a record deal, which ultimately led to the group breaking up. But Buckingham and Nicks weren’t ready to give up on their dream and decided to form the duet, Buckingham Nicks. They recorded a self-titled album together in 1973, which didn’t get a lot of love.

“That album didn’t do well commercially, but it certainly was noticed,” Buckingham told Dan Rather in an interview.

But little did they know it would be a major milestone in their personal and professional lives. The pair, who had worked together for years as friends, found themselves in love.

Joining Fleetwood Mac

Although the Buckingham Nicks album didn’t take off the way the pair would have liked, it did catch the attention of Mick Fleetwood, who met Lindsey Buckingham at a recording studio in 1974. After hearing Lindsay’s guitar work on the Buckingham Nicks song “Frozen Love,” Fleetwood asked him to join Fleetwood Mac. The band had been plagued by personal conflicts and lots of changes in the lineup. Buckingham told Fleetwood he would join the group under one condition.

“Of course, my response was, ‘If you take me, you’ll have to take my girlfriend too,” Buckingham told Dan Rather. “And they did.”

The rocker called the chance meeting a “very nice piece of luck.”

“Landslide”

With its two new members, Fleetwood Mac released a self-titled album in 1975. The album contained several hits, including “Rhiannon” and “Landslide.”

Breaking Up is Hard to Do

By 1976, Nicks and Buckingham’s romantic relationship was waning, but Nicks refused to let the end of their love affair mean the end of Fleetwood Mac. Although they were no longer dating, they continued to work together for the sake of the band.

“You just have to throw yourself into your song. I mean, I broke up with Lindsey in 1976. We’d only been in Fleetwood Mac for a year and a half, and we were breaking up when we joined,” Nicks told The New Yorker in an interview. “So we just put our relationship kind of back together, because I was smart enough to know that, if we had broken up the second month of being in Fleetwood Mac, it would have blown the whole thing.”

Rumours

Despite the personal issues between the bandmates, the group released the album “Rumours” in 1977, which would become one of their most successful projects. The album, which sold over 40 million copies and won a GRAMMY for Album of the Year, remains one of the highest-grossing albums in history. But as Buckingham told Dan Rather in an interview, he believes most of the album’s appeal came from the fact that the songs gave fans an inside look at the romantic relationships (and breakups) of the band’s members. Bandmates John and Christine McVie, who were once married, were also going through a divorce at the time.

“Basically Stevie was writing dialogues to me. I was writing dialogues to her, and Christine McVie was writing dialogues to John,” he said. “So you could say that what we did beyond the music was really to tap into the voyeur in the audience. People were really able to invest in us as people because they could see and it was very well documented.”

“Go Your Own Way”

One of the biggest hits on the “Rumours” album was “Go Your Own Way,” a song Buckingham wrote about the end of his love affair with Nicks.

He wrote:

“Loving you
Isn’t the right thing to do
How can I ever change things
That I feel?”

“Tell me why
Everything turned around
Packing up
Shacking up is all you want to do.”

“Dreams”

Of course, Nicks had to tell her side of the story, and she did so with an amazing clap back, the hit song “Dreams.”

She wrote:

“Now here you go again,
You say you want your freedom,
Well, who am I to keep you down?
It’s only right that you should,
Play the way you feel it,
But listen carefully,
To the sound of your loneliness.”

“Thunder only happens when it’s rainin’,
Players only love you when they’re playin’,
Women, they will come and they will go,
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know.”

It’s All in the Eyes

Stevie Nicks wrote lots of songs about her relationship with Lindsey Buckingham, but “Silver Springs,” a revenge track which is all about their breakup, is probably one of the deepest.

Just check out the haunting lyrics:

“Time cast a spell on you, but you won’t forget me,
I know I could’ve loved you, but you would not let me.
I’ll follow you down ’til the sound of my voice will haunt you.
Give me just a chance,
You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you.”

The song, which was written for “Rumours,” didn’t make the album’s final cut and was later released as a B-side. But this performance during a 1997 Fleetwood Mac reunion still has everyone talking on social media today. People can’t help but focus on the way she looks at him – a perfect reminder of what could have been.

“It’s the intense and deliberate eye contact for me 💀” wrote someone on TikTok.

Others who’ve watched the clip are reminded about a love of their own that gives them the same feeling.

“We all have a Lindsey Buckingham in our lives,” wrote another commenter on the app.

Now I Know Why Mama Loved This Song

TikToker@mrprofessor318 posted his reaction to “Silver Springs.”

“When you listen to ‘Silver Springs’ and realized why your mom loved that song,” he captioned his post.

“She didnt just stare into his eyes…she stared into that mans soul while singing this straight to him. Stevie will always be iconic,” wrote someone in the comments.

A Powerful Hex

TikTokers who watch the performance today can’t help but think Nicks, whose bohemian style gives some of her fans witch vibes, was casting a spell on Buckingham, who was involved with his wife Kristen when the band performed together in 1997. And in one of the ultimate bad ass moves, Nicks even made Buckingham sing along.

“And she made him sing the incantation Of his own hex! I love it!,” wrote one person on TikTok.

“It Was You”

Although Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were never married to each other, Buckingham did walk down the aisle with Kristen Messner, a photographer he met in 1996. The two had a son together in 1998 and eventually tied the knot in 2000. They went on to have two more kids in 2000 and 2004.

Buckingham says Messner was the inspiration behind some of his songs, including his 1997 song, “It Was You,” a song in which he thanks her for choosing him to start a family with.

He sings:

“Every day now how the time has flown,
Every day now I am finally home,
Because I waited for a woman who,
Was true,
I waited for a woman it was you.”

But Messner ultimately filed for divorce in 2021, due to irreconcilable differences, which left some fans wondering if the split could open the door for Nicks and Buckingham to give their love another try.

“I will simply combust if Stevie and Lindsay end up together in their old age,” one TikToker said in a post. “I’m sorry, that was my first thought. I know I’m not alone.”

“He’s Not My Best Friend”

While most Fleetwood Mac fans would love to see a romantic reunion between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, it’s probably not in the cards. Although the pair have a decades-long personal and professional relationship, Nicks says she doesn’t think they could ever go back to being the kinds of friends they were as teenagers.

“He’s not my best friend and never will be, because we were those kinda lovers, you know, and when we broke up, it was awful, and it was nasty and bad. And so we can never really be good friends,” Nicks said in an interview. “We care about each other very much, but we don’t hang out.”

If they ever do find their way back together, we know the music will be fire.

Kat Graham’s Directorial Debut THE MOVE Unveils the Dark Side of Digital Love – Where Is The Buzz

[ad_1]

Kat Graham, the actress and off-screen creative mind, has been making a bold debut behind the camera with her heart-pounding psychological short, THE MOVE, available today. This is not some quirky indie flick; it’s a tense exploration of trust, self, and the queasy fissures technology can create in relationships.

The Allure of Kat Graham: From AI Innovator to Film Auteur

Fresh from the launch of her groundbreaking AI app, KATAI, co-developed with Google Cloud, Kat Graham is proving her creative ambitions know no bounds. As KATAI showcases her pioneering application of technology and art, THE MOVE explores the darkest, most personal recesses of our hyper-connected lives.

Kat’s experience with AI is anything but typical. “I don’t believe AI can, or should, replace the human experience. But I do believe it can help us tell stories in new ways, reach new audiences, and challenge our assumptions about identity and art. That’s what this project does.”

Surprisingly, no AI was actually used to make the film itself. Instead, AI programs were cleverly woven into the promotional campaign. AI motion animation is employed on the cover of the movie, transforming one single frozen frame of film into a chilling visual shadow of the movie’s core theme. This blending of human creativity and technological creativity is the ultimate expression of Kat’s artistic mantra.

A Story Told Through Screens

By Scott Lobdell, Happy Death Day’s creator, THE MOVE centers on Lee (played by Kat herself), who asks her boyfriend Brett(Lex Lauletta) to move in with her in New York City. What is supposed to be a relationship milestone quickly turns out to be something far more sinister: their relationship, totally on screens, starts to crack and warp, and a dark secret unfolds.

The decision to present the whole story through digital exchanges is not a stylistic trick. It’s chillingly timely and immersive, and it evokes the very real fears about online identities and the impermanence of trust in the virtual world.

Co-star Lex Lauletta detailed the meticulousness of the process. “When Kat sent me the script, the concept of a film told entirely through screens felt very timely. I designed every button, icon, pop-up, and glitch by hand in After Effects to keep the visual world immersive and authentic. And working with Kat, not just as a friend but as a powerhouse actor-director, made the experience incredibly collaborative and meaningful.” His hands-on approach adds to the high-tech story of the film, making every digital element lived-in and disturbingly real.

Kat and Lex’s Vision

To all of us who have seen Kat go from The Vampire Diaries to her fearless music and now to her directing debut, THE MOVE is a thrilling new chapter. Kat and Lex’s working relationship is not just professional; it’s a friendship-driven collaboration that blossoms from admiration.

Working as a friend, but also as a powerhouse director-actor, Lex confirms, brought the experience to be exponentially collaborative and significant. That authenticity shines every pixel of the film, making THE MOVE more than a story; it’s a declaration.

Where to Watch THE MOVE

THE MOVE streams now on various platforms, including:

  • Google Play/TV
  • Apple Movies & TV
  • YouTube Movies & TV

For Kat Graham fans and moviegoers seeking a new, gritty take on human existence in the digital age, THE MOVE is not to be missed.

Glynn Turman honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Black Hollywood celebrates

[ad_1]

While many Hollywood legends may arrive for their Hollywood Walk of Fame inductions in a limo, veteran actor Glynn Turman rode into town on horseback.

On Thursday, July 10, the 78-year-old actor saddled up, with cowboy hat and all, to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony that brought out plenty of other Black Hollywood legends, including Ava DuVernay, Don Cheadle, Kim Fields, and more.

“We’ve held each other up in difficult times, you know? We’ve been there for one another, you know? And so, here it shows,” said Turman, per ABC 7.

Turman’s career, which began at the age of 12 when he starred as Travis Younger in the original Broadway production of “A Raisin in the Sun,” has spanned over 66 years across the stage, film, and television. The Emmy and NAACP Image Award-winning actor has starred in many major films and shows, including “Cooley High,” “A Different World,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” “The Wire,” and most recently “Queen Sugar” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”

Thursday’s ceremony was hosted by Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans and featured heartfelt tributes from DuVernay and Cheadle.

These are the highs and joys we witnessed at Essence Fest 2025

“I don’t call him Glynn. I call him Mr. Turman because I just can’t,” DuVernay began. “Because there are artists and then there are architects.”

“Creative human beings who don’t only perform,” she continued. “But who build, who shape, who carve paths, who create structures that others walk through and dwell in long after the curtain is lowered and the cameras stop rolling. On this gorgeous summertime day we gather to celebrate such an architect, a master builder of culture, a man whose name alone conjures not only memories of performances, but entire eras of the nation’s history, its beauty, its bruises, its pain, its poetry. Glynn Turman is an American institution.”

The producer and director shared that as she was writing “Queen Sugar” there was only one actor she would consider for the role of Ernest, the father figure in the series, and that she was over the moon when he said yes to the part.

“He didn’t just play Ernest Bordelon. He made him live and linger, even after he was gone from the screen,” she added. “That’s what an institution does. Shapes everything around it, defines the space, commands reverence, not because it shouts, but because it stands. And Glynn Turman stood for us for more than 60 years, not only on stages and screens but in the arena of life. A cowboy, a horseman, an educator, a mentor; this is an American institution, because he is a man who’s done what institutions are meant to do, preserve what is sacred, pass down what is vital, protect what is beautiful and Black.”

From the looks of footage uploaded to Instagram by Fields, celebrations following the ceremony quickly turned into a joyous family reunion of sorts for Black Hollywood.

“The Family Reunion that broke out at [Glynn Turman’s] Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star Celebration,” she wrote in the caption of the video that showed her greeting many Black notables, including Tisha Campbell and Anthony Anderson.

She added, “Fam Roll Call in this (and this aint even er’ybody!) sisters brothers uncles aunts cousins and the grands … I love you all.”

Tisha Campbell opens up about struggles following divorce and bankruptcy: ‘I had $21 in my pocket’

[ad_1]

Noir Nation, things just got darker.

🎤 Music and fashion icon Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has been hit with explosive new allegations of sex trafficking, oral rape, forced imprisonment, and psychological abuse—all laid out in a chilling amended lawsuit filed by his former assistant Lauren Pisciotta.

📝 The suit, filed this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses Ye of grooming and manipulating Pisciotta with promises of fame and career advancement—only to allegedly subject her to disturbing and repeated sexual misconduct during her employment.

👀 The Allegations Include:

Forced oral sex in a San Francisco hotel room after a work event Unwanted exposure and sexual touching, including Ye allegedly forcing her hand onto his genitals Being locked in a hotel room as Ye masturbated in front of her Allegedly being “offered up” to other men as part of “a sex exchange,” raising serious sex trafficking concerns Coerced silence, harassment, and alleged abuse of law enforcement to retaliate against her after she tried to cut ties

🚨 According to court documents, Pisciotta claims that Ye’s behavior created an environment of fear, where his status and power silenced her while normalizing violence, degradation, and control.

Despite the graphic nature of the accusations, Ye’s legal team is denying all claims—calling Pisciotta an “obsessed” ex-employee attempting to extort him. They’ve hinted at plans to file a countersuit.

🗣️ A Pattern?

This lawsuit comes amid a rising wave of allegations against high-profile Black male celebrities—many of whom are now being investigated for sex trafficking, abuse, and exploitation of power. From Diddy to Mike Jeffries, legal and cultural conversations are shifting.

Social media has responded swiftly, with many demanding accountability and justice—while others warn against rushing to judgment before the facts are fully laid out in court.

Noir Nation, what are your thoughts? Are we witnessing a long-overdue reckoning in entertainment—or is this a case of truth being buried beneath fame, money, and manipulation?

We’ll continue to follow this case as it develops. Stay tapped in.

15 Crazy, Magical Things About Atlanta, Ga.

[ad_1]

As Beyoncé continues her “Cowboy Carter” in Atlanta, it’s clear she has a thing for the southern city. Not only did she pull out her best outfits, a golden flying horse, and Rumi and Blue Ivy’s best “I’m so ATL” dance moves onstage, but the crowds on night one and two were giving Queen Bey life! And this just speaks to the unbelievable energy radiating throughout the entire city on any given day.

Atlanta is a one of a kind place, and if you’ve ever been, you know exactly how unreal the city can really be. It’s only place where folks go to the strip clubs not for the entertainment, but just for the chicken wings. And where Black cowboys roam the streets alongside tricked-out cars straight out of a time machine. For outsiders looking in, the capital city of Georgia seems like a fever dream… and they’re probably right. If if you don’t believe us, just take a look.

ATL Water Boys Horror Stories

Anyone living in Atlanta can tell you about the infamous “Water Boys.” Teenagers in the area walk around selling waters, Gatorade and other cold beverages, especially on a hot summer day. Atlanta is home to several large hospitals, including Grady Memorial, Emory– and all of its many locations– Wellstar, Piedmont, and more. But what many people, including TikToker @brandvn__, noticed is that “we have a surplus of nurses. Why is everybody a nurse?” He asked. To his point, Atlanta surprisingly ranks top 10 for cities with the most nurses. In 2022, there were 45,360 registered nurses employed in the city, Atlanta News First reported.

And if you ever want to see it all in one place, don’t worry… There’s probably a car show going down somewhere close by. And be careful, because you might get challenged to a race!

The Black Cowboys of Atlanta

If cars aren’t your thing, then don’t worry. Atlanta also has a vibrant cowboy scene too! You can’t forget that Atlanta is still a southern city with deep ties to cowboy culture… way before Beyoncé and “Cowboy Carter.” On the outskirts of the city, you can spot Black cowboys minding their business and bringing the joy to their communities. Several groups in the area also organize for annual rodeos too!

Still, residents love going to the 24/7 diner at any given time… Just make sure you keep your eye on the front door.

Club at the Gas Station

In no other city could you pump your gas at the same spot you go to have a good time! This gas station doubles as a club, and honestly, it’s very on brand for a city like Atlanta.

Selling Hot Sauce on the Streets

This TikToker was casually walking down the street when he spoted an Atlanta native– you can tell by his accent— selling Black-owned hot sauce for $12 a bottle. Later, he spotted the other man, this time joined by a group of others, selling bottles. “We could be out here selling dope,” one of them yelled. And he might have a point!

The Mystery of Lake Lanier

Although the natural reservoir is just outside of Atlanta, it’s garnered quite to notorious reputation inside the city. Georgia natives know to stay away from Lake Lanier, which mysteriously has claimed countless lives. Just last week, a man was charged with throwing a deep freezer at an individual, causing him to fall to his death in the lake, according to WSB-TV. It’s estimated more than 700 people have dead in Lake Lanier.

Impeccable Marketing Skills

If there’s one thing folks in Atlanta know how to do it’s advertise! One well-known church in Atlanta took creative flyers to a new level after disguising an church service flyer as a Louis Vuitton wallet. This TikToker, @tima2, went to open what she thought was someone’s lost wallet. Inside, however, she found Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant of New Birth Church advertising an Easter celebration. “Imagine you thinking you about to steal somebody’s wallet and it’s a pamphlet for Easter service,” another user wrote.
