Netflix’s blockbuster live-action adaptation of One Piece is officially getting a third season before Season 2 has even premiered. The streamer announced the early renewal during the annual One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo, delivering both fresh casting news and a significant behind-the-scenes shift in leadership.

The announcement confirmed that Ian Stokes, who served as co-executive producer on Season 1, will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner for Season 3. Stokes’ promotion comes after a revolving door of showrunner changes in the series’ brief but turbulent history. Production for the third season is slated to begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.

Season 2 Sets Sail in 2026

While Netflix did not drop an exact release date, One Piece Season 2 is officially slated for 2026 under the title “One Piece: Into the Grand Line.” The streamer also revealed a set of first-look images, teasing the grand scale and treacherous beauty of the next chapter in Luffy’s pirate odyssey.

According to the official synopsis, Season 2 promises “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet” as the Straw Hat crew enters the mythical Grand Line, a stretch of ocean famed for bizarre islands, unpredictable seas, and notorious enemies. “As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies,” the description reads.

Returning cast members include:

Season 2 will also welcome a slate of high-profile newcomers: David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, and Joe Manganiello as the infamous Mr. 0.

A Tumultuous Journey Behind the Camera

The live-action One Piece has navigated as much drama off-screen as its characters face on the high seas. The series was originally developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, who co-showran Season 1. Ahead of Season 2, Maeda stepped away, with Joe Tracz stepping into the role of co-showrunner. Owens remained for Season 2 but later confirmed his departure after production wrapped.

Season 3 will now be helmed by Tracz and Stokes, marking the third major showrunner reshuffle since the series’ inception.

A Global Collaboration Anchored by Oda

The show is produced in partnership with One Piece’s original publisher Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partner), and Netflix. Season 2’s creative team includes Owens and Tracz as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners, alongside One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda in his role as executive producer.

Additional executive producers include Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements for Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Maeda.

With Season 2’s massive expansion into the Grand Line and Season 3 already on the horizon, Netflix appears fully committed to making One Piece one of its flagship global franchises, even as the series continues to weather waves of creative change behind the scenes.

Rapper T-Hood is reportedly dead after being shot inside his Atlanta home. On Friday night, the 33-year-old musician was found by Gwinnett County police wounded from a gunshot.

According to WSB-TV, the rapper, real name Tevin Hood, was treated with first aid and rushed to a hospital, but later died of his injuries. There were reports of a dispute at Hood’s home before the deadly shooting.

T-Hood’s mother, Yulanda, confirmed her son was the person shot at his residence, according to TMZ. She denied apparent reports of a party going on at home at the time of the shooting.

While not a mainstream artist, T-Hood was well known in the Southern rap scene for songs like “READY 2 GO,” “Big Booty,” and “Perculator.” During a 2023 interview on “Off The Porch,” the rapper talked about writing songs for rapper Chingy–famous for his song “Right Thurr”–and performing with him on The Millennium Tour in Atlanta.

“I damn near pissed on myself so scared bro,” he said of the mainstage experience.

Despite his life ending in tragic gun violence, T-Hood had previously sent a message to young people about violence following President Donald Trump’s ordering of airstrikes in Iran.

“PSA to all the YN’s: Trump just dropped them bombs, boy. He finna start drafting motherf—–s to the Army. All ya’ll who want to run around and goddam play ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Grand Theft’ in real life. Ya’ll want to mask up and play … all day long? Yeah, it’s over,” he said in a June post.

One person was detained by investigators, but no official arrests have been made in T-Hood’s death, reports WSB-TV. A motive for the shooting has not been determined.

Heartbreaking new details have emerged in the drowning death of three-year-old Trigg Kiser, the son of popular lifestyle influencer Emilie Kiser, revealing troubling allegations about the moments leading up to the tragedy and a controversial decision by prosecutors not to file criminal charges.

The Fatal Evening

On May 12, Emilie Kiser, known for her TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube content, was out with friends when her husband, Brady Kiser, was caring for their two children: Trigg and newborn Theodore.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., Brady discovered Trigg floating unconscious in the family pool. According to a police report obtained by People, the child had been in the water for about seven minutes before being pulled out.

Brady told police he had seen Trigg playing near the pool after dinner, something he claimed was not unusual, but became “distracted” by caring for the newborn. He said he lost sight of Trigg for three to five minutes before spotting him in the pool, jumping in to save him, and calling 911.

The boy was rushed to the hospital but died six days later.

Video Evidence Paints a Different Picture

Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators told a more devastating story. According to the police report, Trigg was unsupervised in the backyard for more than nine minutes, with seven of those minutes spent in the water.

The video showed that the child did not enter the pool intentionally. Instead, he tripped and fell into it while playing with an inflatable chair.

Investigators noted that Brady’s account to police “did not accurately describe one thing [Trigg] did after he went outside”, leading them to conclude that he was not actively supervising the toddler.

The NBA Playoffs and the $25 Bet

One of the most shocking revelations in the report was the allegation that Brady had been watching an NBA playoff game at the time and had placed a $25 sports bet on the outcome.

Police stated that “the combination of these factors led to drowning, and a remedy to any of the contributing circumstances could have prevented the outcome.”

Initially, Chandler police recommended that Brady be charged with felony child abuse. However, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced prosecutors would not proceed, citing a lack of “reasonable likelihood of a conviction.”

Legal Battle Over the Records

In the aftermath, Emilie Kiser launched legal action to prevent the release of certain records surrounding Trigg’s death. On Thursday, a court ruled in her favor, ordering two pages of the Chandler Police Department report to be permanently removed from public release.

The ruling offers some privacy to the grieving mother, but the case has already sparked widespread public debate over parental responsibility, pool safety, and the role of distraction in fatal child drownings.

As of now, the Kiser family has not released any public statement addressing the newly revealed allegations.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s mother broke her silence after his tragic death in Costa Rica in a powerful statement honoring his life, artistry and the legacy he left behind.

“As his mother, there is so much that I can say. It would fill volumes. But what I will say is that I am so very blessed that he chose me to be his mother to come into the world through the waters of my womb,” said Pamela Warner, who managed “The Cosby Show” actor throughout his childhood career in television.

“Malcolm left an indelible mark on the world and on countless hearts. All who met him, however briefly, were better for the encounter.”

While vacationing with his wife and daughter, Malcolm-Jamal Warner tragically drowned on July 20 while swimming in the ocean of Limón Province, Costa Rica, after being caught in a strong current. He was 54.

Pamala Warner remembered her son as a “kind, loving man with a huge heart for humanity,” sharing that the star who famously played Theo Huxtable alongside Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Lisa Bonet, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and the rest of the “Cosby” cast, was an “exceptional husband, father and son” who was “deeply in love with Life, his wife and his daughter.”

Reflecting on her relationship with her son, Pamela Warner said he was not only her child, but also her “teacher, coach, confidant, business partner, and best friend.” She added, “Needless to say our hearts are heavy with the loss of Malcolm.”

Pamela Warner’s post was part of a new Instagram account for the Malcolm-Jamal Warner Living Legacy, which she created in his honor. The grieving mother recalled Malcolm-Jamal’s love for the “magic of being an actor” and his later-in-life musical career.

“Though he began his musical journey a little later in life, at 26, he excelled as a bassist and formed his own band, Miles Long. A poet as well as a musician, he released four albums–two Grammy nominations and one Grammy award,” wrote Pamela Warner. “At eight years old after his first stage performance he declared that being on stage was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life it became a self fulfilling prophecy.”

However, she said Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s most impactful legacy was that he wanted “all to be aware of his inner strength, and that they could succeed accomplish and transform.” She continued, “This was his latest mission and work transformation in order for you to be fully present in your life.”

Pamela Warner said that while the loss of her son brought sadness to many, they can be comforted in knowing he was “at peace” and did “not suffer” when he died.

“Malcolm was birthed through water and he transitioned through water. He departed as he arrived through water. This was his time. His mission on earth had been completed,” she said.

The Warner matriarch added, “Hold close to whatever part of Malcolm‘s life that touch yours. In keeping it near, you keep his spirit alive—nourishing you with the peace, love joy, and light that embodied Malcolm-Jamal Warner.”

Eddie Murphy doesn’t care what critics have to say about his projects. In a recent interview with Speedy Morman, the actor reflected on his decades-long career and his projects. When asked to list his best films, the “Boomerang” star joked that it would be easier to list his worst movies, which prompted a conversation about his highly criticized 2007 film “Norbit.” 

“I love Norbit,” he told Morman. “Norbit came out right after I got the Oscar nomination. So, there were articles [that were] like, ‘How can he get an Oscar? He did this.’ They’re two different movies.”

“I wrote it with my brother Charlie. We think ‘Norbit’ is funny. They gave me a Razzie for worst actor, worst actress, and worst actor of the decade for that … Come on, that s**t ain’t that bad. To this day, I like it. Stuff in ‘Norbit’ makes me laugh,” he continued. 

Of his extensive catalogue of work, the actor believes that “The Adventures of Pluto Nash” and “Holy Man” are his worst films. On the contrary, Murphy thinks some of his best projects are “Coming to America,” “Shrek,” “48 Hours,” “Dreamgirls,” and “The Nutty Professor,” which he says best represent him as an actor. 

“The Nutty Professor, has a bunch of stuff in it. All these different characters, and they have to play different stuff. You know, there’s some serious kind of sweet heartfelt stuff in it…it’s stuff that’s just completely insane in it,” he concluded. “And if I had to take one movie to represent my whole [career] it would be The Nutty Professor, I think.”

Murphy, who previously won theGrio’s “Icon Award,” reflected on almost 50 years in the entertainment industry and how the landscape has changed.

“I have been in this business for 47 years,” Murphy said as previously reported by theGrio. “It was a whole different show business back then. The only young people you would see were the Jackson 5, ‘Good Times,’ and ‘Sanford and Son,’ which were the only Black people you would see on TV. Sidney Poitier was the only one in the movies. We had no Black makeup artists, producers, writers and directors. We have all of that now.”
