Meagan Good Allegedly Paying for Jonathan Majors Child Support

[ad_1]

After his sharp and swift fall from grace in Hollywood, it looks like Jonathan Majors might be suffering a bit on the financial tip. According to TMZ, the former Marvel star is reportedly set to sell autographs at the Famous Monsters Fest in Pennsylvania this upcoming weekend.

The autographs will apparently be going for a spicy $140 a pop, with signed pro-shot pics going for $160.

“Jonathan is excited to get back out in front of the fans who appreciate and love the Kang storyline and lore, and he can’t wait to see some friendly faces,” Majors’ rep said.

However, while it may be a joyous occasion for him to get back on the scene, others online are suspecting it’s just another attempt at a cash grab, especially considering recent online speculation that his girlfriend — a.k.a. his “Coretta” — Meagan Good is paying most of his bills.

This theory was borne from alleged insider information from people close to the couple who claim that Good is paying a whopping $75,000 allegedly for his dog training and his child support payments for his 9-year-old daughter, according to Hot 97.

“Meagan pays for everything. They really wanted this dog, and she got stuck paying the $75,000 training bill. Like, that’s crazy!” the insider said. “No one knows what Meagan sees in this guy. If things keep up this way, she may not be able to pay her mortgage.”

Once people online got wind of this alleged news, naturally the jokes and commentary began:

“F**k Ciara I’m praying the Jonathan Majors Prayer,” said one user on X/Twitter.

“The streets are saying, our good sis Meagan good is covering all of Jonathan Majors bills, including his child support. Keep her in your prayers,” wrote another.

“Someone tell Jonathan majors dr king was not making coretta pay child support,” joked another.

“Meagan Good smokes Newports, so of course she’s paying Jonathan Majors child support for him,” another wrote.

Should this be true, it would just add more fuel to the roaring fires of criticism that have engulfed the couple since they made their debut during his domestic dispute trial from last year.

In the aftermath, Majors was dropped from a handful of projects including the movie adaptation of Walter Mosley’s novel “The Man In My Basement,” opposite Willem Dafoe; a forthcoming Otis Redding biopic and an MLB ad campaign for the Texas Rangers.

Cardi B announces arrival of second baby girl

[ad_1]

Cardi B is now a mom of three!

This week, the “Bodak Yellow” star annouced the arrival of her third child with estranged husband Offset on Instagram. In a carousel post of pictures and videos, Cardi B gave fans a glimpse of her family welcoming its newest addition.

“The prettiest lil thing 🌸🌸 9/7/24 💖💖💖,” Cardi captioned the series of hospital photos.

As previously reported by theGrio, last month, Cardi B announced her third pregnancy shortly after reportedly filing for divorce from her husband of six years. Describing it as a “new beginning,” Cardi B shared the news in a maternity shoot on Instagram

“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you; you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power,” she wrote. “[You] reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test[s] laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”

Shortly after her pregnancy announcement, the rapper shared that she was in a “freak accident” that left her feeling “paralyzed.”

“I was going down the stairs and I slipped a little,” the Grammy winner explained, per theGrio. “I practically fell, but I was trying to prevent myself from falling, so I was holding myself on the railing. My foot still slipped, and I kind of busted my ass…[I] noticed that I couldn’t really walk, like I was feeling pain in my, I don’t know, in the lower of my stomach.”

Worried about her baby’s health, Cardi recalled an ambulance and subsequently learned she had torn a ligament in her pelvis, “right where [her] baby’s head is at.” She says the accident almost cost her her pregnancy.

Though Cardi B and Offset have closed the book on their hip-hop romance, the couple seems to be maintaining a co-parenting relationship, as the Migos rapper appeared in the family’s hospital photos. In addition to their newborn daughter, whose name has yet to be announced, the duo shares a six-year-old daughter, Kulture, and a three-year-old son, Wave.

Man Found Guilty in Murder of Furniture Store Worker

[ad_1]

Two years ago, a terrifying story about an UCLA graduate student being stabbed to death while working in a furniture store shook the internet. This week, a jury came to a decision about the murder suspect.

On Jan 13, 2022, prosecutors say 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer, an architectural design student, worked alone in Croft House in Hancock Park when 34-year-old Shawn Smith entered the store. The Los Angeles Police Department said messages from Kupfer’s phone showed her texting a friend that afternoon saying she felt uncomfortable about Smith’s presence. Though, the friend did not immediately respond.

In only another 20 minutes, Kupfer was found stabbed to death by a customer and Smith was gone, police said. She suffered 46 stab wounds. Police said Smith fled out the back door of the store but left behind the weapon and an audio recorder.

Prosecutors said the device captured the voice of a man telling a woman to get on the ground and saying he was not going to hurt her, per NBC Los Angeles. Then the woman screams and the man says, “It’s over, it’s over bitch.”

The evidence left behind made it easy for Smith to be identified as a suspect. Police said they located him six days later after receiving a tip he was sitting on a bus bench in Pasadena. Smith was then arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

During trial, prosecutors claimed Smith’s hatred of women was the cruel motive behind the crime, citing a recording he made saying he wanted to kill women just weeks before Kupfer’s murder, the report says.

“It’s easier probably to sleep at night to think something is wrong with him rather than face the truth that this man was on a crusade to hunt, to destroy and to kill for the mere fact that she was female,” said prosecutor Habib Balian via NBC LA.

The defense argued Smith’s crime was not premeditated, and insisted the case gathered such dramatic attention because of race. However, Tuesday, the jury took less than 24 hours to come back with a guilty verdict.

He faces life in prison upon the convition but a judge will decide his fate after determining his sanity at the time of the crime, the report says.

WNBA players and union speak out against commissioner after she failed to condemn fan racism

[ad_1]

WNBA players and their union spoke out against Commissioner Cathy Engelbert’s recent comments on a TV show that failed to condemn racist and bitter criticism from fans toward the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry.

Engelbert made an appearance on CNBC’s “Power Lunch” on Monday and was asked by anchor Tyler Mathisen about what he called the “darker” tone taken by fan bases on social media that brings race and sometimes sexuality into the conversation.

“How do you try and stay ahead of that, try and tamp it down or act as a league when two of your most visible players are involved — not personally, it would seem, but their fan bases are involved — in saying some very uncharitable things about the other?” Mathisen asked.

Engelbert responded by saying, “There’s no more apathy. Everybody cares. It is a little of that Bird-Magic moment if you recall from 1979, when those two rookies came in from a big college rivalry, one white, one Black. And so we have that moment with these two.

“But the one thing I know about sports, you need rivalry. That’s what makes people watch. They want to watch games of consequence between rivals. They don’t want everybody being nice to one another.”

WNBPA executive director Terri Jackson issued a statement Tuesday disagreeing with Engelbert’s comments.

“Here is the answer that the Commissioner should have provided to the very clear question regarding the racism, misogyny, and harassment experienced by the Players: There is absolutely no place in sport — or in life — for the vile hate, racist language, homophobic comments, and the misogynistic attacks our players are facing on social media,” the statement said.

The union statement went on to say that fandom should “lift up the game, not tear down the very people who bring it to life.”

Engelbert clarified her initial remarks on social media late Tuesday night, writing, “To be clear, there is absolutely no place for hate or racism of any kind in the WNBA or anywhere else.”

Clark and Reese have brought new attention to the WNBA this season with attendance and ratings soaring. The pair have been rivals on the court since their college days when LSU topped Iowa in the national championship game in 2023.

Union vice president Breanna Stewart was disappointed in Engelbert’s initial comments.

“To be honest, I saw the interview today, and have been in talks with Terri at the WNBPA,” Stewart said after a win over the Dallas Wings. “I think that it’s kind of disappointing to hear because the way that the fans have surged, especially behind Caitlin and Angel coming to this league, but also bringing, like, a race aspect, to a different level.

“And you know, there’s no place for that in our sport. I think that’s really what it is. We want our sport to be inclusive for race, for gender, and really a place where people can be themselves. So we wish, obviously, Cathy would have used her platform in a different way, and have made that a little bit better, kind of just telling the fans enough is enough.”

Black Hollywood reflects on James Earl Jones’ impact

[ad_1]

As many continue to react to veteran actor James Earl Jones’ death on September 9, 2024, we are learning more about his life and his impact on some of Black Hollywood’s biggest stars.

The legendary actor, 93, was perhaps best known for the powerful voice that voiced iconic characters like Darth Vader and Mufasa. However, he once lived with a stutter and overcame multiple periods of self-imposed muteness in his early life.

When Jones was inducted into the American Academy of Achievement in 1996, he shared in an interview what it was like growing up in Mississippi and Michigan.

“It wasn’t that I stopped talking; it was that I resolved that talking was too difficult,” Jones recalled, adding that moving away from Mississippi to Michigan with his grandparents, who raised him, caused significant trauma for him. As a result, he spent his entire first year of school mute which continued well into high school.

It wasn’t until he encountered a high school teacher named Donald Crouch that Jones started pushing through his silence, discovering a love of poetry in the process.

“[Crouch] said, ‘Do you like these words? Do you like the way they sound in your head?’ ” Jones explained. “He said, ‘Well, they sound 10 times better when you give them out in the air. It’s too bad you can’t say these words.’ He began to challenge and nudge me toward speaking again, and by using my own poetry and then other poets … he nudged me toward that, toward acknowledging and appreciating the beauty of words.”

It’s hard to say what would have been if not for Crouch’s crucial intervention. However, it is easy to say what Jones would go on to do for many future Black Hollywood stars.

“He’s my hero,” Denzel Washington told Variety, who noted that his college theater career was inspired by Jones’ performances in both “The Emperor Jones” and “Othello.”

“I wasn’t going to be as big as him. I wanted to sound like him. He was everything to me as a budding actor. He was who I wanted to be,” Washington continued. “There weren’t a lot of serious Black actors for us to emulate; to follow, to admire. There was Sidney [Poitier]; it was James Earl Jones on stage. That’s what I remember.”

Ava DuVernay paid tribute to Jones through multiple posts in her Instagram Stories and ended with the caption: “A job well done. A gift well shared. Bless you as you journey on,” per Entertainment Weekly.

In a post on X, Kerry Washington shared, “Your voice left an everlasting mark on film and theatre. Your roles shaped our imaginations. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace, Mr. Jones.”

Wendell Pierce wrote in his own tribute post on X, “Genius Personified. Humanity Exemplified. Artistry of the highest order. A personal hero of monumental talent. Once in a generation. My soul is broken with the news of his transition.”

Colman Domingo shared an image of a young Jones on X, writing, “Thank you, dear James Earl Jones for everything. A master of our craft. We stand on your shoulders. Rest now. You gave us your best.”

Meanwhile, Courtney B. Vance, who spent time with Jones and his family six months ago, told Variety he regrets not reminiscing more about the times he shared the stage with the late actor, including a performance of August Wilson’s “Fences,” and when the two performed a scene from the play for the 1987 Tony Awards.

“At that very first table read, I didn’t know what to call James — I called him “Sir.” I was the only one that didn’t know anybody. On top of that, I was green because I had just gotten into theater. I didn’t know upstage from downstage. They all brought me along. They schooled me,” Vance recalled.

He added that “James would like to be remembered as a gentleman, as someone who loved his family. Everybody from his generation, there were no models for them, so they had to make their way out of no way. They were all pioneers. Moses Gunn, Cicely Tyson, and James in “The Blacks” was a play that changed Broadway as much as “Fences” did, allowing African American performers to have careers.”

Vance also recalled the last time he saw Jones, who is survived by his son Flynn, at his home in upstate New York earlier this year.

“The whole family was there, and we were all just laughing, talking about old times,” he said. “He said to me, “Courtney, they’ve got me so ensconced in this bubble, I think I’m gonna live to be 100.” I said, “Jimmy, I know you will.””

Kendrick Lamar Drops Surprise Track on Instagram – Where Is The Buzz

[ad_1]

Kendrick Lamar dropped a bombshell on the internet today! Just days after announcing he’ll be headlining the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the rapper surprised fans with a brand new, untitled track on his Instagram. The five-minute track, without a caption, has fans buzzing. Many are guessing the song’s title might be “Watch the Party Die,” based on its chilling chorus.

Kendrick’s latest surprise drop is a total knockout! His lyrics are as sharp as ever, proving he’s still at the top of his game. People have been talking about him going head-to-head with Drake lately, but this new song doesn’t feel like it’s part of that drama. It’s just pure Kendrick, pure fire.

However, Lamar does offer a cryptic line that hints at the resolution of their beef, rapping, “Just walked that man down, that’ll do everyone a solid/ It’s love but tough love, sometimes you gotta result in violence.”

The new release is notable for its introspective tone, a reflection of Kendrick’s reluctance to feed into the demands of the industry. At one point, he reflects on the pressures of fame: “They wonder why I’m not enthused to drop. The more visible you get, the more your spiritual is tried.” It feels like this line really sums up a lot of what Kendrick’s been going through lately. He’s trying to be creative and true to himself, but at the same time, he’s got to deal with all the pressure people put on him.

Over the weekend, the NFL confirmed that Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9th, 2025. This will mark a significant moment for both the rapper and the genre. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Kendrick declared in a statement, boldly embracing the challenge. “They got the right one.”

The track’s sudden release, paired with Kendrick’s Super Bowl announcement, signals that the next era of his career may be just as unpredictable and game-changing as the last. Fans and the music industry alike are eagerly awaiting his next move.

Will this new track serve as a prelude to a full project? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: Kendrick Lamar is still here to remind the world of his reign in hip hop.
