Isabella Strahan is officially cancer-free and ‘everything is great’

[ad_1]

This week, Michael Strahan’s 19-year-old daughter Isabella bid the hospital farewell as she shared a positive update about her treatment. In a new segment of her YouTube series documenting her health journey, Strahan announced that she is officially cancer-free.

“It was a great, great scan,” she said in the video after her doctors reviewed her final MRI scan. “Everything was clear. Cancer-free and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October.”

In October 2023, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove a malignant tumor from her brain. Four months later, the “Good Morning America” co-host and his daughter revealed that she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a tumor that grows in a part of the brain located at the base of the skull. As previously reported by theGrio, this type of brain tumor is rarely found in patients Isabella’s age.

Since publicly discussing her diagnosis, Isabella has been transparent about her cancer battle, posting a series of vlogs on her YouTube channel. From doctor’s visits to chemotherapy to pleasant surprises, Isabella, who has been receiving treatment at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, N.C., has shown fans the ups and downs of her journey

“These past two months, it’s been rough,” she said in her first vlog. “It’s been challenging, and it’s been very hard, but I know I’ll get through it. I know time will heal, and things will get back to being — I can’t really say normal because there’s not really normal now in my life, but things will get back to being calmer.”

After undergoing treatments for several months, Isabella and her family celebrated completing her last round of chemo in June. Surrounded by cheers and balloons, the Strahan family was all smiles as the 19-year-old rang the hospital’s bell to commemorate the special milestone.

“@isabellastrahan you are a SUPERWOMAN! Ringing that bell, finishing chemo and on your way!,” Michael Strahan captioned an Instagram video of his daughter ringing the bell. “You continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination. I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella.”

Despite experiencing pain and discomfort from the surgical removal of her chemotherapy port, Isabella was all smiles by the end of her “Goodbye Hospital” vlog.

“I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice. I feel like I’m just saddened today knowing that I wasn’t gonna be going back for a while because I love them so much. So, that was my last hospital vlog until October,” she concluded the video, mentioning plans to potentially document her return to the University of Southern California.

Christopher Eubanks’ journey toward becoming a tennis player worth watching is filled with interesting highlights and impressive achievements. He’s headed to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics in a couple weeks, so here are five things you might not know about the Atlanta native.

How Sabrina Greenlee Turned Her Heartbreaking Story into a Touching Memoir

He Was An Early Starter

Eubanks first picked up a tennis racket at age 2. His father Mark introduced him to the sport and coached him until he was a young teenager.

He’s One of the Tallest Tennis Players

In the tennis world, it’s not a requirement to be super tall but there is an advantage to it. Eubanks stands at 6-foot-7, which makes him one of the tallest players in the ATP Tour. This gives him a great advantage, especially with his serve.

He’s Was a Slow Burner

Eubanks had not gone past the second round of a Grand Slam before Wimbledon. The only other time he reached the quarterfinals was in doubles at the 2020 U.S. open with Mackenzie McDonald.

Former Coach Used to Call Him “The Mayor”

Aside from Eubanks’ father being his original coach since he was two, he was also coached by Donald Young who was a top 50 player at the time. Young was the one who began calling Eubanks “The Mayor” for his ability to network with anyone.

He Recently Had a Breakthrough

Perhaps the most notable achievement Eubanks accomplished came in 2023 when he reached the quarterfinals of the Miami Open. This performance helped boost his ranking and showcased his potential to compete at a higher level. Because he seemed to be an underdog, his ability to perform against other high-ranking players caught the attention of the tennis world.

Prince documentary may not be released because of ‘dramatic’ factual inaccuracies: reports

[ad_1]

A nine-hour documentary about the late singer Prince has been put on pause because of differences between his estate and the doc’s production team.

The film, which was originally going to stream on Netflix, is “dead in the water” after the “Kiss” singer’s estate viewed the project and claimed it was littered with “‘dramatic’ factual inaccuracies and ‘sensationalized’ renderings of certain events from his life,” a source told Variety

Specifics about the alleged falsehoods are not available, but a source told Puck, which was the first to report the news, that “it’s not revelations of drug use or sexual stuff.” The estate felt that certain moments in the documentary were “‘sensationalized’ and not properly fact-checked,” according to Variety, and the film’s director Ezra Edelman allegedly was not receptive to the feedback. However, different sources reportedly claim that the problem was about “control,” and the estate feeling that the documentary was not “positive” enough, per Puck and Variety.

The six-part series was approved for a six-hour run. Edelman instead created a nine-hour project, “a violation of the agreement that presumably enabled the estate to withhold music rights,” Variety reported. The director is reportedly “devastated” by the news as he has been working on the documentary for over four years.

Netflix and Edelman maintain the final cut of the film, but releasing the documentary without Prince’s music would more than likely create significant “creative and commercial” challenges, per Variety.

Netflix and representatives of Comerica Bank, the interim executor for Prince’s estate, signed the deal for the documentary in 2018. Ava DuVernay was originally attached to direct the project, but was replaced by Edelman who was reportedly “given extensive access to Prince’s archives and produced a cut of the film that was screened recently for insiders,” according to Variety.

DuVernay tweeted about making the film in 2018, saying that “Prince was a genius and a joy and a jolt to the senses.”

“The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care. I’m honored to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate,” the Oscar-nominated director said at the time.

Make Your Living Room Look Like the Obamas With These Neutrals

[ad_1]

The Obamas may no longer be the occupants of the White House (sniff), but we still can’t stop admiring their style. So we’ve been self-soothing by scrolling through our Forever First Lady’s timeline and admiring her positive posts, including this April 2023 Instagram post of her knitting in what looks like her living room.

We Asked Admiral John Kirby About Comparisons Between Israel And Apartheid South Africa, Jim Crow

And while the post, which has received over 365,000 likes, is about the joy she finds in this creative pastime, we can’t help but drool over the beautiful space she’s sitting in.

Ms. Obama proves that when it comes to decorating your home, less can definitely be more. But redecorating may not be in your budget. If you’re looking to transform your living room into an Obama-inspired stylish, neutral oasis without spending a fortune, we’ve got you covered.

Clear The Clutter

Even when you have the best decor, clutter can take away from your overall design aesthetic. Adding a storage cabinet is a great way to hide toys, puzzles, blankets and other things that make your living room look messy when left lying around.

We love this three-door storage cabinet ($129.99) from Amazon that comes with adjustable shelves to store your stuff.

You can also use baskets with lids like these we found at H&M ($74.99) to keep living room clutter to a minimum.

Add Interesting Accessories

One of the best things about starting with neutral furniture, wall colors and window treatments is that it gives you lots of options to play with accessories. Don’t be afraid to bring in pops of color and other textures with vases, throw pillows and sculptures.

These Mother-of-Pearl Effect knobs ($14.90 for 2-pack) from Zara will add flair to any door or cabinet in the room.

You can make your neutral window treatments pop by adding an interesting curtain rod. We’re living for this brass sunrise rod ($38) from Opalhouse™ designed with Jungalow™ at Target.

Bring the Outside In

Plants and flowers are great accessories that bring life and color into any room. Use decorative vases and planters as another opportunity to add some style to your space.

This Round Metal Modern Indoor Pot Planters Set ($97.99) from Wayfair makes a bold statement in a neutral color.

It’s true, live plants and flowers require a little work on your part to maintain. But if you don’t have a green thumb, don’t worry. Spend a little more on something you don’t have to water like this artificial orchid arrangement ($140) from Afloral. They make stunning life-like flower arrangements that will last a lot longer.

Play With a Patterned Rug

Area rugs are one of our favorite ways to bring warmth and personality to a room. And if you’re going for a neutral palette, you’re in luck. Rugs in light colors can help make a room look larger.

This Ansley Moroccan Lattice Tassel Area Rug ($194.99) from Target may be grey, but the trellis pattern makes it anything but boring.

The Anchise Striped Rug ($105.99) from Wayfair is another great neutral option with lots of texture and plenty of style.

Add Color With Accent Furniture

A neutral color palette doesn’t mean everything has to be gray and beige. Take advantages of opportunities to use accent chairs, tables and other furniture pieces to bring color into the room.

Whether you want to read, knit or take a nap, you’ll look great doing it in the Abisko Lounge Chair ($899) from Article – a bold, velvet accent chair.

Britney Spears Fires Back at Ozzy Osbourne After Criticism of Dancing Videos – Where Is The Buzz

[ad_1]

Pop star Britney Spears took to social media to defend herself after Ozzy Osbourne and his family expressed concern about her frequent dancing videos on Instagram.

Spears posted a lengthy message on her account, calling out the Osbournes and praising actress Kate Beckinsale for her social media presence.

“I’m going to do a photo shoot with Kate Beckinsale and tell the Osbourne family, the most boring family that humanity has ever known, they can go to hell,” Spears wrote.

The public spat stems from a recent episode of “The Osbournes Podcast” where Ozzy, Sharon, and their children discussed Spears’ social media activity. Ozzy remarked that he was “fed up” with seeing the videos, while Sharon and Kelly Osbourne expressed sympathy for Spears.

Spears, known for her outspoken nature, did not stay silent. She emphasized her right to self-expression and defended her decision to share dance videos.

“I know what it’s like to be judged,” Spears wrote, referencing her past struggles under conservatorship. “But I think it is important to HELP EACH OTHER and invite each other to places that help our souls grow.”

The controversy comes amidst a period of personal change for Spears. Following her split from Sam Asghari, she recently confirmed she is single and has no plans to pursue romantic relationships.

Spears’ journey to personal freedom is documented in her book “The Woman I Am,” where she opens up about the challenges of fame and past heartbreaks, including the termination of a pregnancy during her relationship with Justin Timberlake.

Missy Elliott’s song ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’ transmitted to planet Venus, NASA announces

[ad_1]

Missy Elliott can now be heard in space.

The rapper’s song “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly” was transmitted at the speed of light — approximately 158 million miles — from Earth to Venus, which is her “favorite planet,” NASA’s Deep Space Network announced on Friday.

Elliott is the first rapper to ever have a song played in space. NASA transmitted The Beatles’ “Across the Universe” in 2008, according to People, but no hip-hop song has ever been spacebound until now.

Brittany Brown, director of the Digital and Technology Division, Office of Communications at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., initially “pitched ideas to Missy’s team to collaborate with the agency,” according to a NASA press release. Brown released a statement about last week’s historic transmission, noting “both space exploration and Missy Elliott’s art have been about pushing boundaries.”

Recommended Stories

“Missy has a track record of infusing space-centric storytelling and futuristic visuals in her music videos so the opportunity to collaborate on something out of this world is truly fitting,” she added.

Elliott expressed her excitement about the transmission, sharing that she chose Venus because of what the planet represents.

“I still can’t believe I’m going out of this world with NASA through the Deep Space Network when ‘The Rain’ (Supa Dupa Fly) becomes the first ever hip-hop song to transmit to space!,” Elliott said in the press release. “I chose Venus because it symbolizes strength, beauty, and empowerment and I am so humbled to have the opportunity to share my art and my message with the universe!”

Elliott’s historic space transmission follows a whirlwind few years for the rapper. In 2019, she was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards for her legendary and impactful career. Two years later, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to music, and The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation recognized the four-time Grammy Award winner last year when she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — making her the first ever woman hip-hop artist to be honored.

Elliott is currently performing on her “Out of This World – The Missy Elliott Experience” tour with fellow artists and friends Ciara, Timbaland and Busta Rhymes.
