Noah Schnapp, the 19-year-old actor who portrays Will Byers in Netflix’s smash hit “Stranger Things,” found himself at the center of controversy after a reported incident at a New York City nightclub early Saturday morning.

According to Page Six, Schnapp’s night took a turn for the worse after attempting to socialize with patrons enjoying bottle service. The report details how Schnapp offered them tequila shots, but was met with rejections due to his age. This dismissal allegedly triggered a visible shift in Schnapp’s demeanor, escalating to what bystanders described as “aggressively intoxicated” behavior. Security personnel intervened and escorted Schnapp out of the venue, The Palace, around 1:30 am ET.

Representatives for both Schnapp and The Palace have remained silent on the matter. Page Six claims to have obtained footage showing Schnapp in various states of inebriation inside the nightclub.

This latest incident adds to a string of controversies surrounding the young actor. In 2020, Schnapp vehemently denied accusations of racial slur use after a video resurfaced online. He was embroiled in another social media spat two years later with singer Doja Cat. The discord stemmed from Schnapp sharing private messages Doja Cat had sent him, where she expressed interest in being introduced to his “Stranger Things” co-star Joseph Quinn.

Schnapp’s recent actions have sparked a fresh wave of public criticism. While details remain unclear, it’s evident the situation has tarnished his image yet again.

We’ve long known the myth about Black fathers and their general lack of involvement and fitness as fathers was simply mush, yet another way for a country fearful of Black masculinity to emasculate and dehumanize brothers.

I am a Black father, and I am nothing like the Black fathers you’ve heard about. You know – the violent ones, the absent ones, the unwilling to work ones, the Nick Cannon baby-in-every-corner-of-the-country ones. The ones we often are when you watch TV or a movie.

Black fathers are boss. Don’t believe me? Well, would you believe the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention?

A CDC study found that Black fathers who live with their children were more likely than white or Hispanic fathers to bathe, change or dress their children every day, more likely to eat meals with their children every day and more likely to help their children with their homework every day.

The iconic study is a decade old now and continues to be cited, and it’s worth remembering as fathers across the country are celebrated.

Brothers deserve their neckties and golf balls, too. Barack Obama ain’t the only good Black dad in America.

The former president and I don’t have a whole lot in common – I’m better-looking, a better public speaker, and I’m far smarter. (OK, family and friends, you can stop laughing now.) But Obama and I – and a whole lot of other Black fathers – used the absence of our own fathers as fuel in our commitment to be everything we could be for our children.

Yes, there is a sad caveat to those CDC numbers. It’s that too many Black men – far, far too many – are NOT custodial fathers. High divorce rates, low marriage rates, giant disparities in incarceration rates, those all play a part in having too few Black men getting the opportunity to be custodial fathers.

Some of that is on Black men. Some of it is on systemic racism.

The point is that, when we’re there to do the job, we do the job. And we do it well.

Being Ashley’s dad and Wayne’s dad and, now, dad to my lovely daughter-in-law, Erica, those are the aspects of my life for which I am most proud.

Each knows they can call on me at any time for any reason, and I’ll be there.

It gave me great joy to be there for all of the moments of Ashley and Wayne’s childhood, large ones and small ones.

I remember realizing that baby Ashley, seconds old, recognized the voices of the mother and father who spoke to her during those months before she was born. I remember the indescribable joy of watching Wayne take Erica’s hands in his at their wedding and quietly tell her he loved her.

All of the moments in between – the orchestra performances, the parent-teacher conferences, the academic encouragement, the sickbed ministrations, the this-is-going-to-hurt-me-more-than-it-hurts-you discipline, the college and career advice – I can say I was there for all of it.

And so can just about every Black father I know. So, a tip of the cap to you, Rodney. Salute to you, Rick. Way to go, Nijon. I’m still taking notes, Jim. Proud of and happy for you, Duchesne. Kill it, Marcus.

During opening statements of the trial of Miles Bryant, an ex-cop accused of the kidnap and murder of 16-year-old Susana Morales, Bryant’s attorney Tracy Drake called her client “cold” and “callous.”

She even warned that the jury would not like him.

“Hold him [Bryant] guilty for the death of Susana Morales,” Drake told the jury.

And that’s just what the jury did after only six hours of deliberation: A Gwinnett County, Georgia jury found Bryant, 23, guilty of malice murder, felony murder, kidnapping and false report of a crime. He was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to a Gwinnett County news release, after texting her family that she was on her way home from a friend’s house, Morales was never heard from again. It wasn’t until seven months later that her remains were found.

The Life 360 app installed on Morales’ phone was marked as key evidence pinpointing her last known location. Bryant’s own cell phone records helped tie him to the site where Morales was later found, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV.

Bryant admitted to dumping Morales’ body in the woods, but the exact cause of death was never determined. A gun registered to Bryant was also found at the scene. The sentencing came almost two years after her original disappearance.

The trial, which began on June 3, was full of testimonies from Morales’ friends and family.

“She was really uplifting. She was nice to everybody. She was a really loving person,” Morales’ boyfriend said during his testimony.

During the trial, Police Officer Xavier Biggers, who worked closely to find Morales, also took the stand and became emotional as he spoke about how “obsessed” he became with finding the young girl.

“I have a daughter the same age,” Biggers told the court. “It really touched me that I thought it was my duty to try to find her.”

Bryant’s lawyers filed a motion for a new trial.

Madi Neill has found herself at the center of a social media firestorm after her accusations of sexual assault against Illinois basketball player Terrence Shannon Jr. were proven false. The allegations which surfaced months ago, led to Shannon’s temporary suspension from the team, a lawsuit against the university, and a highly publicized trial that ultimately cleared Shannon of all charges.

The controversy began when Neill, an underage girl, accused Shannon of rape without substantial evidence. The impact on Shannon’s life and career was immediate and severe. Shannon was kicked off the Illinois basketball team, faced widespread public shaming, and endured “No means No” signs and chants at games, among other forms of harassment. Throughout this ordeal, Shannon maintained his innocence and cooperated fully with the investigation.

During the trial, overwhelming evidence emerged that exonerated Shannon. Multiple eyewitness accounts and extensive DNA testing confirmed that Shannon had no involvement in the alleged incident. Furthermore, group chat messages between Neill and her friends, which were revealed during the trial, suggested that the accusations were part of a deliberate scheme. One message, in particular, read, “We got him!!… Yup🤑🤑…”

Following Shannon’s acquittal, the public’s outrage quickly turned towards Neill. Social media platforms have been flooded with criticism and calls for Neill to face legal consequences for her false accusations. Many users argue that the damage done to Shannon’s reputation and mental health warrants serious repercussions for Neill.

Additionally, Neill’s friend, Rachel Butts, has also come under fire. Butts testified during the trial, claiming that Shannon had raped Neill. Her involvement has drawn significant backlash, with many questioning her motives and integrity.
