In the first video shared by Smith, the elderly woman, Catharine Clark, is seen sitting in her truck, obstructing Smith from leaving while demanding her personal information. Smith eventually provides her name and advises the woman to file a complaint through the Amazon app.
The second video that Smith posts shows Clark following her to her car and complaining about parking problems because Smith’s Amazon van takes up two parking spaces.
The videos rapidly went viral on TikTok, totaling over 2.2 million views, with many viewers denouncing Clark’s actions. Commenters chastised Clark for what they saw as outrageous behavior, especially considering the triviality of the parking conflict.
TikTok users reacted to the videos with shock and irritation, with comments ranging from surprise at the woman’s conduct to open mocking. Heather Watrous replied sarcastically, “OMG she had to wait…the horror!” while Peach Grower questioned the intensity of Clark’s reaction, saying, “Seriously?!?! This is because she had to wait for the space you were in. Wow!”
As the videos gained popularity, interest in Clark’s identity grew. ThatDaneshGuy, a TikTok user, decided to uncover Catharine Clark’s identity by creating a duet video incorporating her Facebook profile and place of employment.

“Prior to an incident on March 8th where she was seen defending herself from harassment and bullying, she had never been in trouble,” her family wrote in a Change.org petition, obtained by the New York Post, asking Chief Juvenile Officer Rick Gaines not to charge her as an adult.
Her family noted her numerous academic accomplishments, including the fact that she speaks four languages, plays the violin, and was selected for AP classes.
“It is unjust that such an accomplished young woman should be charged as an adult for assault without considering all the facts of the case that led to the incident where harm occurred,” in their petition.
The case drew significant racial uproar on social media, with some commentators alleging “reverse racism.”
Kaylee Gain, who appears to be white, was reportedly hospitalized and in critical condition after a fight near Hazelwood East High School on Friday. In the video, a group of teen girls, who appear to be Black, are seen punching and kicking the girl on the ground. St. Louis County Police responded to the fight and arrested a 15 year-old suspect on assault charges.
“This evil and complete disregard for human life has no place in Missouri, or anywhere,” he wrote on X. “I am praying for the victim. The criminal should be charged and tried as an adult. If the victim dies, that offense should rise to a homicide”
The video caught the attention of conservatives on social media largely because of the suspected races of the suspects and the injured girl.
Charlie Kirk, Founder of Turning Points USA and the man behind a campaign to discredit Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., circulated images of the fight calling the other teen girls a “mob.” His followers quickly latched on to the fight complaining of “reverse racism,” and targeting the race of the girls in the video.
“Lots of diversity doing diversity things,” wrote one social media user.
“Am I the only one noticing the race of the attacker,” wrote another.
“If a white girl did that to a black girl, Biden would be meeting with the victims family tonight In other words, he won’t be meeting with her family tonight,” added another user.
“If the races were reversed, there would be riots,” wrote another.
Valentina Gomez, a candidate for Missouri Secretary of State, used the incident to politically attack Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) for “defunding the police.”
“Kaylee was brutally killed,” tweeted Gomez. “@AGAndrewBailey I EXPECT you to charge the killer with First Degree Murder, and everyone else as an adult for Aiding and Abetting. I call for the resignation of Representative @RepCori for defunding the Police, and @CityofHazelwood Mayor Matthew Robinson for failing to protect its citizens. @EndWokeness@MarioNawfal@libsoftiktok.”
To be clear, Rep. Bush did not defund the police in the City of Hazelwood Missouri or anywhere else for that matter and an arrest was made. Gomez also claimed that the girl was brutally murdered — but so far there have been no official reports that the teen has passed away.

The news of Amouranth’s ban and subsequent unbanned spread fast among her followers, with the streamer herself confirming the suspension on social media platform X (previously Twitter). In a typical move, Amouranth tweeted a bikini photo alongside a tweet reading, “I just got banned on Twitch.”
The announcement piqued the interest of her followers, who were curious about the length of her ban and when Twitch would reinstate her account. Their doubts were addressed quickly when Amouranth’s suspension was removed three hours after it was enforced, marking the veteran streamer’s return to the platform.
Actor Chance Perdomo, who rose to fame as a star of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and “Gen V,” has died at age 27 following a motorcycle crash.
“On behalf of the family and his representatives, it is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chance Perdomo’s untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident,” a publicist said in a statement issued Saturday evening.
The statement said no one else was involved in the crash. No details about the crash, including when and where it took place, were immediately released.

Perdomo most recently played Andre Anderson on the first season of “Gen V,” the college-centric spin-off of Amazon Prime’s hit series “The Boys,” set in a universe where superheroes are celebrities — and behave as badly as the most notorious. Perdomo’s character was a student at Godolkin University, founded by the sinisterly omnipresent Vought International corporation, where “supes” train; his power involved the manipulation of metal.
Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, the makers of “Gen V,” said the show’s family was “devastated by the sudden passing.”
“We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person,” the producers of “Gen V” said in a statement. “Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense.”
It wasn’t immediately clear from the statements how Perdomo’s death would affect production on the show, which also featured Jaz Sinclair, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Shelley Conn among its sprawling ensemble cast.

One of Perdomo’s most famous roles was as Ambrose Spellman, a lead character on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” The four-season show was a far cry from the Melissa Joan Hart-fronted “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the Netflix show set its Archie Comics characters a town over from the titular location of Aguirre-Sacasa’s “Riverdale,” and employed a more spooky and salacious tone than its forerunner — although some of the original “Sabrina” actors came calling.
Perdomo’s character was a cousin to Sabrina Spellman and a powerful, pansexual warlock who specialized in necromancy and is initially under house arrest. He often served as a sort of voice of reason on the show, which wrapped in 2020. He starred alongside Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Tati Gabrielle, Ross Lynch and, again, Sinclair.
Perdomo, who was Black and Latino, was born in Los Angeles and raised in England.
“I was always getting into fights until I put my energy into acting. Then my grades picked up, and I became president of the student union. Before that, I was similar to Ambrose being so pent up. He doesn’t know what to do with his energy because he’s trapped,” Perdomo told them.us in 2018.
“At the same time, he’s very open and loving. I identify with that now more than ever, because being away from family for so long really puts things into perspective. No matter the occasion, if I get that FaceTime or phone call from mom or my brothers, I’m picking it up right away. It’s family first for Ambrose, and I’m the same way,” he continued.
Perdomo also acted in several of the “After” movies and is credited in the upcoming “Bad Man” alongside Seann William Scott and Rob Riggle.
“His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest,” the statement from Perdomo’s publicist said.

A federal court ruled on Thursday that South Carolina can use a congressional map, which it previously deemed unconstitutional due to harmful impact on Black voters, given that the primary election is nearing and the U.S. Supreme Court has been slow to act on an appeal of the case.
The three-judge panel ruled to keep South Carolina’s congressional map in place despite previously ruling the map violates Black voters’ constitutional rights. The state’s primary elections are June 11 with early voting beginning in less than two months.
Democrat Michael B. Moore, congressional candidate for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, expressed disappointment in the court’s decision.
“As a representative of the targeted group that was unconstitutionally denied their political voice, this is deeply troubling,” he told theGrio. Moore is seeking to oust U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican.

April Albright, legal director of Black Voters Matter, told theGrio that she is “heartbroken” by the court’s decision.
“It makes no legal sense. It’s heartbreaking for Black voters in South Carolina because they only have one viable option to send someone to Congress,” Albright said.
Adriel I. Cepeda Derieux, deputy director for the American Civil Liberties Union’s Voting Rights Project, said in a statement that the court’s decision “has undermined democracy.”
Derieux added that this ruling has “further entrenched voter suppression in the state.”

Last year, the same three-judge panel took on the case Alexander v. South Carolina Conference of the NAACP in whichthe NAACP contended that Republican lawmakers violated Black voters’ 14th and 15th Amendment rights by unconstitutionally redrawing thousands of Black residents from the state’s 1st Congressional District to other districts, including Democratic Rep. James Clyburn’s 6th Congressional District to diminish the power of Black voters.
In January 2023, the judges ordered South Carolina to redraw the controversial congressional map because it was “unconstitutional.” The Republican-led state filed an appeal, in which the Supreme Court granted certiorari and halted the lower court’s order to have the map redrawn.
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments last fall and many suspected the court would issue a decision before the March deadline to give lawmakers a chance to redraw the map. However, the court has yet to publish an opinion.
The lower court judges felt pressure to act quickly, given the current election cycle, and decided to keep the current map in place.
“With the primary election procedures rapidly approaching, the appeal before the Supreme Court still pending, and no remedial plan in place, the ideal must bend to the practical,” the judges wrote.

Moore suggested that the Supreme Court is “playing politics.”
“They didn’t want to put their hand on the scale of this race and potentially add back a number of Democrat votes to the district,” Moore said. “So, the lower court was forced to use the current map.”

In a statement obtained by theGrio, Leah Aden, senior counsel for the Legal Defense Fund, stated that this is “justice delayed.”
She added that the “plaintiffs have made every effort to get a decision and remedy before another election under a map that denies them their rights.”
Moore told theGrio the current map should not hamper efforts for Democrats to flip the House chamber, maintain control of the Senate and re-elect President Joe Biden.

Moore is confident that he will be able to unseat Mace in November.
“We’ve got the plan and we’ve got the team to flip this seat,” Moore said. “Republicans are pulling out all stops to hold on to power as long as they can.”
This comes a day after some voting rights advocates criticized federal judges for keeping Florida’s Congressional map in place ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Albright of Black Voters Matter told theGrio that gerrymandering cases in the U.S. have increased because voters of color are growing in size and white voters are threatened.
“They’re creating apartheid-like conditions to maintain power and to stop minority voters from deciding where resources go in the state,” Albright said.
“It’s got to stop and if the Supreme Court refuses to do it, the people have to begin to fight tooth and nail to change it,” she added.
