Noir Nation; Georgia State Rep. Eric Bell is speaking loud and clear on Glo”rilla recent run-in with the law. Just days after she was arrested for alleged drug possession, Bell is calling on prosecutors to drop the charges immediately, and he’s even pushing a new bill to back it up!

“She deserves support, not punishment for trying to protect herself and her home,” Bell told Fox 5 Atlanta.

“No one, regardless of fame, background or zip code, should fear being criminalized for doing the right thing,” Bell said. “Unfortunately, stories like hers are not rare. Too often, victims of crime — especially Black victims — face the threat of arrest simply for seeking help from law enforcement.”

🚔 THE BACKSTORY

It all went down on July 20, when GloRilla’s team called authorities to report a break-in at her Forsyth County home. Though she wasn’t there, cops claimed they smelled marijuana, got a warrant, and found what they called “a significant amount” of drugs. Sis turned herself in on July 22 and was hit with felony charges.

Now Bell is introducing House Bill 464, which would protect victims from being arrested on unrelated charges when reporting a crime.

“This is not just a policy decision. It is a matter of compassion, safety and basic fairness,” Bell said. “HB 464 is not about going easy on crime. It is about being smart about justice.”

“In the meantime, I am calling for all charges against GloRilla to be dropped,” Bell said. “She deserves support, not punishment, for trying to protect herself and her home. We cannot send the message that doing the right thing puts you at greater risk.”

🗣️ Noir Nation, what’s the real crime here?
