Iconic actor Morris Chestnut, who starred in the legendary 1991 film Boyz N The Hood, gave The Chi cast and crew their flowers for paying homage to one of the culture’s most unforgettable moments.
Morris took to Instagram writing, “Shoutout to The Chi for re-enacting this iconic scene from Boyz N The Hood. Much Love!” His words carried weight, especially for actor Michael Epps, who plays Jake Taylor on the hit Showtime series.
In an exclusive interview with Noir Online Org, Michael opened up about the once-in-a-lifetime experience of stepping into such an iconic role. “I am so honored to do that scene… because Boyz N The Hood is one of my favorite movies,” he shared. “That ‘RICKYYYY’ moment is legendary.
He added, added that the moment felt surreal, not only as a fan but as an actor carrying the weight of cultural history. “For them to feel like I was capable enough to portray that moment almost as good as Cuba Gooding Jr., that’s a blessing.”
